This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Obama leads McCain 60-40% ....in electoral college votes, which is all that counts.
According to realclearpolitics.com the states that heavily support Obama or a leaning toward him total 249 votes.
McCain gets 163, and 126 votes are considered a toss up.
But the latest polls show Obama gaining or pulling further away in the key states of Pennsylvania, Oregon, Missouri, Michigan, and West Virginia.

You seem pretty emotionally tied in to this, 10:20pm.
I hope, for your own sake, that you get what you wanted.
If it is 60/40, then you probably don't need to vote. Right?

JB: I thought McCain was the topic of this thread.
10:47: Nothing all that emotional about polling numbers. There hasn't been much talk about electoral college projections. I live in California which is going to vote for Obama. So until we elect presidents using popular votes, my vote for president will mean nothing. But I will vote because of all the other candidates and issues.

Yes it is. There is just a poster out there who's off topic comments I have already removed. My message was to he/she, not to anyone else.

At the risk of going too far off topic, there are some who believe that Sarah Palin will easily win the debate because of the laws of expectations.
The point is that nobody who is running for VP can truly be as stupid as Sarah Palin has been. Therefore, it has all been an act designed by those like Karl Rove who do the thinking for Bush and McCain to lower the expectations that people have for Palin's debate performance.
So when a halfway intelligent woman takes the stage at the debate she doesn't need to do much to exceed expectations, and thereby win the debate in the eyes of the voters.
