Very simple: Because Mitt Romney said a lot of really nasty things about McCain during the primary which Obama could easily exploit.
So then that narrows the choices down to ..... exactly no one. Hillary?
No it's just that it excludes some or most of the folks who ran against McCain, primarily Romney.
Most of the people on McCain's short list are not candidates from the 2008 primary anyway.
But you also have to eliminate all the candidates who aren't extreme enough for the Rush Limbaugh types and the religious fanatics.
If you start spoutin' Sarah Palin again...
