Senator Hillary Clinton gave a fine speech at the Democratic National Convention proving that the Democrats chose the wrong candidate. The LA Times however made reference to the former Presidential candidate's fashion sense referring to the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits."A reader at Sam Yorty's America asks "Question: How will Sarah Palin do in a debate with Joe Biden? Answer: How many men watching will be aware that Biden is in the room?"
A delegate blogging live from the DNC writes that he saw Mayor Villaraigosa hanging around the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel Tuesday night; in the meantime Laura Chick gets into a dust-up with a Clinton delegate.
The campaign website for City Council candidate Paul Koretz is back up following a severe hack attack that took the site down for several days. The hackers were sophsiticated enough to not leave any tracks and inflicted severe damage on the original site code. One wonders if the Koretz campaign's web team had backed up the site?
A slight blow to the nanny state. A law by Senator Jack Scott to ban mylar balloons has been severely weakened by amendments. So your kids' next birthday party is safe.

DENVER -- -- Far from center stage, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa spent the first day of the Democratic National Convention straining to speak over clattering dishes as he addressed a breakfast meeting Monday of the Florida delegation.
On the second day, Villaraigosa remained on the sidelines, as early Barack Obama supporters like Federico Peña, the former mayor of Denver, and Rep. Xavier Becerra of Los Angeles took the stage.
With no prime-time speaking slot or other major role at the four-day convention, one of the nation's best-known Latino elected officials has been relegated mostly to side events. He has filled the void by feverishly working crowds and the news media and appearing on cable's MSNBC and Fox News. He spoke to delegates from New Hampshire on Sunday, Florida on Monday and Minnesota and Texas on Tuesday.

* All this talk about "hot" candidates just makes you look more like a dumbass, a la Paris Hilton. We know you don't know much, but you should know better than to take your political cues from a pop tart.
* There's no way a pregnant woman would commit to a presidential campaign as VP -- unless she wants to abort her fetus. Pregnancy and extreme stress just don't mix. So stop with the "hot" prognostications for the Baked Alaskan.
* Biden is twelve years younger than McCain.
* Jindal will never be nominated for a national ticket in the GOP. Too many faithful Republicans would rather lock him in an internment camp or send him to Bangalore. GOP is the 99 and 44 one hundredths percent white party. Wake up.

Why oh why do you not do your research? Biden was born November 20, 1942. McCain was born August 29, 1936.

Yes, Biden is younger than McCain.
However most parties also nominate the VP to be the odds-on favorite eight years later, so they have a better chance at continuing their reign in the White House.
That means if Obama wins 2 terms, their "next up" VP Biden will be two years older than McCain is now.
How's that for suicidal planning.
(And, yes, GW did the same damn thing with Cheney - and that's why the GOP screwed the pooch last time and had no 'favorite' for the party to fall in line behind easily). In this case, it actually worked out better, because a GW VP would have to run on Bush's record (like the Dems are trying to saddle McCain with now).
But knowing how hypocritical Democrats ALWAYS are about these things, I can guaran-damn-tee you that by then, 74-year-old Biden WON'T be too old to be president.
By the way - not that genetics is everything, but McCain's mother is 96 and still going strong including stumping for her son around the country the last 15 months.

Secondly as everyone else has pointed out McCain is NOT 12 years older than Biden - he's five and some change. However, he's served nearly twice as long in the Senate as McCain has.
By the way, when Joe Biden was first elected to the Senate, Barack Obama wasn't even in puberty yet.
Sarah Palin had her child 3-4 months ago. She is no longer pregnant.
The Republicans have nominated (and sometimes elected) non-whites all over the country but Democrats don't vote for them because they call them Uncle Toms or Coconuts. Ever hear of Michael Steele, Lynn Swann, JC Watts to name a few. The Republicans would DIE to have either or both Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell as President and/or VP.
Jindal may not be chosen as VP this time but it's not because of his race. And at any rate, he's one of the keynote speakers at the RNC right before the VP nominee.

Somehow I don't think that this race will be decided by the difference in ages between the Republican candidate for president and the Democratic candidate for vice-president. But I guess it's the kind of things people argue about when they're all through with the important arguments.
The race will be O-V-E-R if McCain selects Condi, Carly or Colin.
I've caught some clips of Carly speaking and she's breathtakingly impressive, as is Condi or Colin, even though Colin probably wouldn't accept.

No doubt that McCain has to make a bold pick. No Mitt, Rob, et al. He either has to get some up and comer like Sarah or Bobby, a distinguished woman like Kay Bailey or Carly or someone different like Powell or Lieberman. Though each of those have problems.
Still something bold that fires up the base will do the trick.

AS a Democrat I was embarrassed watching last night. What a circus!!!! What the hell with the Hillary signs? What disrespect and bullshit. Only Hillary and Bill can make what use to be an historical event into a sham. They have divided and not conquered but shown the entire world how vindictive and resentful they are. Instead of taking defeat gracefully like a mature adult they ruined it with all their crap for all Democrats.

It's a different republican party today. Lots of the wing-nuts died. Why do you think McCain beat out wannabe wing-nuts like Romney (please don't pick him), true blue wing-nuts like Huckabee, et al. And McCain beat them handily, not a squeaker like Clinton and Obama.
I can't say for sure but don't be surprised if McCain goes non-traditional.
I'm watching some of these speeches at the DNC.
It's too bad my Democratic Party has gone off the deep end.
These speakers are using the same classism, hate and dividing tactics the Nixonistas did in the 60s and 70s.

According to the Times quote, Antonio getting snubbed is partly cuz he was for Hillary, but also because Obama's people are sure they've got the Cal Latinos sewn up and don't have to campaign here.
It would be a nice shock for them if the Latinos voted for McCain instead.
No one group should be taken for granted every time -- including Hillary's women, or blacks for Obama. E.g., a black small business owner or those favoring immigration law enforcement would probably be better off with McCain.
Where's the info on Prop R that went back to court today?
The Latinos in the Central Valley will vote for McCain. Like Don Quixote they can't quite bring themselves to vote for a mayate.
