FLASH: Daily News Endorses Waldman, Pavley
Though he has to sit first through a verbal spanking from the MOLDY GREENSHEET OF RECORD, 40th Assembly District Candidate Stuart Waldman garners the endorsement of the Daily News, a significant victory for the former Chief of Staff to Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg and current seat holder Lloyd Levine.Though the News is disgusted by the spat between Waldman and chief opponent Bob Blumenfield over Blumenfield's questionable campaign financing, they gave the nod to Waldman based on his past experience and their hope once in office he'll put all this behind him. The paper also stated that fellow candidates Laurette Healey and Dan McCrory "just aren't viable candidates."
In a related story, the Daily News endorsed Levine's opponent for the Democratic nomination for the 23rd State Senate District, Fran Pavley. The News compared Levine to Blumenfield saying the Assemblyman's "tenure has been more about serving himself than the Valley."Voters in both races go to the polls June 3rd.

That is really bad news for the Levines and Berman.
This makes Lloyd look really dumb.
Pavley is the biggest business buster in the Senate, and the environmental bill the DN touts as groundbreaking "for the whole country," is just the kind of thing that keeps business from coming to Calif., and moving in droves instead to booming AZ and NV. Sure LEvine may look a little silly sometimes, but his mistakes don't cost nearly as much.
Anyway, how many Dem's read and pay attention to the DN?
Noone cares who reads the Dailey News. Stuart loses.
I don't think that Pavley is any more liberal than Levine but she might be more effective.
What I do know is that Levine's going to get his ass kicked bad on the 3rd. We're looking at probably 65-35 at least.
the mind blowing climate change bill was basically the Kyoto Protocol without policy to help implement it. Not good legislation in my opinion because it set a time limit and number on redux w/o setting policy on how to compare emission numbers from different agencies and gov'ts (local vs state) who are regulating one source. So basically, agencies are duking it out without guidance on what's really better policy.
She created a vacuum.
I may be biased, but I saw it happen at a former job. Too complicated for a soundbite.

11:35, you may be biased, but you're also misinformed. There is only one statewide board that is responsible for setting policy, coordinating control of GHG emissions and achieving targets set by AB 32. That is the California Air Resources Board. Wake up.
This whole thing makes Bob and Lloyd look like a couple of juvenile delinquents who messed with the top nerd of the school.
Congrats on the endorsement Stuart. And good luck on the 3rd--which incidentally is 10 years to the day that I first met you. Your experience and commitment should put you over the top.
Pavley= Another Skelton, Barkin, Hacopian Big Lib "gift" to California voters.

I guess the times forgot that Fran Pavley is known for usurping hundreds of thousands of dollars from citizens of Agoura. While on City Council in the 90s, Agoura residents were wrongfully charged hundreds of thousands of dollars in utility taxes. Although the courts ruled the money was to be returned, the city council decided to require residents to ask for their money. If they did not know they were rwongfully charged they did not get anything back. However, the city council also enjoyed a lovely raise (guess where that money came from).
