If you are Deputy D.A. Michelle Henisee this backpack gives you a alleged reason to insert ethnic/ immigration politics into a murder case.Killed for walking the street near his home as an American youth, with promise, character, who just happen to be black. The case of Jamiel Shaw Jr. has become the bright beacon pinpointing the "Trojan Horse" of rampant illegal immigration.
But the "Sanctuary of Justice" should not become the protectorate of a "policy of exploitation" that has its roots in greed and results in a breakdown of a society built upon the rule of law.
The murder of Jamiel Shaw Jr. was the result of greed. Greed in the form of a system that drives millions to face death in search of a better life. Greed in form of a political machine that puts the Constitution secondary to the pursuit of absolute power. Greed in the form of ethnic identity that targets community minorities in name of the "RAZA", "RODINA", "HOMELAND" or "HOOD".
Los Angeles sadly is becoming a loose confederation of "CITY STATES" rooted in ethnicity. Racial groups are retracting into "CANTONS" of language, mannerisms, and mores that conflict with a vision of a "CENTRAL CITY" rooted in culture, arts, commerce and binded by the rule of the law.
Yet as we past the Four Million mark in "capacity busting" population, the well-being and future of "THE CITY OF ANGELS" will be predicated on the continuing respect of cultures, native, foreign and home grown but center on a respect for the rule of law that respect the rights of all citizens.

Are you sure about the spelling of Michelle Henisee? I'm told by the D.A.'s office that it is spelled differently. Accuracy is the key to your credibility!!

If Hanisee and Cooley have backed off it has nothing to do with locals like the Mayor, or even Bratton. It must have to do with the Attorney General, Jerry Brown, who's pandering to the illegals as good as any of them -- there seems to be no benefit to NOT doing so, until those who complain and blog for getting rid of illegal gangbangers as a first step (then ALL gangbangers) organize and find a voice, a figurehead who's articulate.
What brought that scumbag, Espinosa, to that particular neighborhood only 24 hours after he was released from prison? Who was he staying with (if anyone)?
There were 2 other people in the car with him...were they captured? Did they live in Jamiel's neighborhood? Did they know Jamiel?
The reason I ask is that Jamiel was born and raised in that same house on 21st St. EVERYONE who lived in the 'hood would have KNOWN JAMIEL WAS NOT A GANGBANGER!

I don't know a thing about the red spiderman backpack, and maybe Jamiel didn't realize it was a sign. But Jamiel Sr. said the perp could not possibly have seen the backpack because he approached Jamiel frontally, and the backpack could not have been identified because it was firmly on his back!

12:27: Sheriff Baca himself said on tape caught by a TV channel, that Espinoza was acting on orders from someone in La Eme (to which ALL Hispanic gangs "pay tax" and prove loyalty, illegal or not) -- they told him to hit someone from the P Stone Crips, centered in that particular hood, as revenge for someone.
That's why Cooley's office is correct to say that it was a gang rivalry -- when these animals look for a hit, it's more important to hit ANYONE to prove loyalty, than WHO they hit, as long as they're in the right hood and color.
IF Cooleu's office is saying more than that, they're out out line -- or MAYBE the Shaws heard wrong, just that it's not a "hate" crime. Which is also technically right, when two ethnic gangs go after each other.
(The definition of hate crime sucks to begin with -- so if a Hispanic illegal kills a white skinhead, that's NOT a hate crime because he's in a white gang? Or is it, IF it can be proven he had to hit someone white? -- People of color should get teh SAME punishment as anyone else, certainly not less if their target is white.)
It slimes the definition of hate crime to apply to gangs killing gangs and criminals killing criminals. When Meyer Lansky, a Jewish gangster, ordered hits on Italian gangsters that wasn't a hate crime either.
