The Diversity of No Home Depot

Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Asians.

Old. Families. Teens. Young professionals. Wealthy. Middle class. Poor.

Democrats. Republicans. Second Amendment advocates. Anti-war activists.

Realtors. Unemployed. Entertainment industry. Police officers. Nurses. Plumbers. Executives.

Rednecks. Yuppies. Granola hippies. Classic car collectors. Lesbians.

They all want the same thing. Some say so about their community.

They all say the same thing. No to Home Depot.

The unanimity of one community to this magnitude is unlike that which I have ever seen.

The storm is coming. Are the City's leaders ready?

America is going to hell in a handbasket.

The likes of people who work at Home Depot have no civic pride, no sense of honor in their jobs, no pride in doing the job right, no courtesy, no "customer is always right" attitude. Nothing.

If they treat you like dirt, leer at the ladies, don't know where the nail aisle is, and litter the parking lot on their way in -- and for some reason they get fired, well, no biggee. They just move on to their next McJob, unloading pallets at WalMart.

Gone is the corner hardware store. Gone is the sense of courtesy. Gone is the personal touch.

Three things might work:

(1) Ban the corporation. That's right, you heard me. Transform conglomerates into associations of sole proprietors (franchisees).

If the North StudioWood Home Depot misbehaves. If it allows illegals to congregate. If it doesn't clean up litter. If it uses illegal tactics, there won't be nameless, faceless, Big Orange with all its resources to defend them, delay things, and obfuscate liability.

No, it will be John Q. StudioWood franchisee. Who is PERSONALLY liable. Who could go to jail...

Idea (2) Bring back the tariff. This whole country used to be funded by tariffs. There was no income tax. There were no cheap Chinese junk goods made by slave labor, driving up our national debt, taking away American jobs. Because the US government TAXED those goods at the moment of import, to make them cost as much as the ones made in the USA. Our entire government was funded by tariffs. Everything. You want to do business in the beautiful US of A? You pay an import tax. Bring back the tariff!

(3) Boycott Big Box. This is something all of us can do.

Isn't that meeting over already? Why are you blogging about it now?
And isn't your lengthy, laundry list just a way of APPEARING that you're really writing something?

8:26 - where you there? I've seen the power of Sunland-Tujunga and if you've not see them get a crowd, you shouldn't comment.

I think 3:10 and 8:26 must be the same person. Name-calling sucks.

Wait! There were lesbians there and no homosexuals? How do you know that? Did someone stand up and say they were a lesbian?

Bigger question is, what the heck happened at the end? Is there an ending to the Home Depot saga? Another chapter - what?
