And if you do a google search for "Zuma-Dogg bond insurer crisis -- or credit derivatives", you will see I was a couple months ahead of the rest of the media pack.
But yeah, I'm broke and hang out at Starbucks. (Would you be happier if I was typing my Wyvernwood theads from a mansion?)
And it's not really Starbucks, cause they charge $10 a day. I bring down the property value of free wi-fi spots. But Starbucks will be offering free wi-fi soon, so I'll be all back up in this hizzouse!!! (Baristas, please have free coffee ready, as soon as I walk through the door. You KNOW you're gonna give it up, anyway!!! No wonder their stock is going down...too much free coffee for ZD!!!)
Hey Z Dogg, I understand that developers build housing and that housing is needed for growth, and that LA needs more housing, and I even understand the way the game is played with kick downs, lobbyists, favors, pressure on certain powers that be to get things done.
I myself have been in the construction industry for many years and have played a few rounds of golf at Oakmont, La Quinta, Indian Wells with some of the "players".
Hey I'm a realist and that's politics and the way things work, you got to know which way the wind blows if you want to be successful in business.
But and I say But! When elected officials get their hands greased and sell out their own constituency, the people that elected them to represent the communities best interest's, who forget about where they came from and set their sights on bigger and better things, and become front men for other more lucrative interests such as money grubbing developers, who would destroy the fabric and personality of a neighborhood by building ugly, monstrosities and stucco shit boxes with architectural styles that are totally foreign to an area with names like Wyenwood Estates or Bunker Hill Towers or Ballona Creek Del Mar, that are a tribute to mindless ugly development. Then that's where I draw the line.
As always, then comes the old tried and true BS of "Affordable Housing" which usually consists of a couple of studio apts over the garage and trash dumpster areas.
The rest is out of reach of most of the local people. And as the tax burden rises the local people who can't afford it have to leave and end up in Pomona or La Puente or some other deteriorating suburb.
And then when the "landscaping" (a couple of Palm Trees and some ice plant) dies off in a few years, the stucco cracks off, the roofs start leaking, the underground parking becomes a sewage filled sump, the parking (minimal to begin with) overflows all over the surrounding streets, then try to find the "developer" or make a complaint to the elected official who ok'd the project and you'll find they're long gone to bigger and better things.
It's a disgraceful circle jerk that's been going on a long time and has become an art form in LA.
Thanks for keeping the pressure on these sellouts Z Dogg, the people have to stay informed and the only way to fight this mindless development is to scream and complain and threaten as loud and as long as possible.

Thanks to everyone who posted comments in support of my "blog clogger" deletions by someone who's goal it is to divert attention from the thread topics. As you can see I will keep them off the thread, so if I'm going to delete those (for clogging up the blog), I felt it was only fair to wipe off the ones supporting the deletions, too. So don't worry about responding to future posts...i'll catch it.
Me personally, I don't really enforce for staying on thread topic. Any of my threads are also general open threads. But I know the difference between that, and intentional off-topic blog clogging. Even if it's from people who I like some of the time. ;)
