Baffled on a Friday
First off Joe M. and Zuma D. have hit multiple home runs on their stories the last 24 hours. I know the usual defeated, crybaby losers will have plenty to say but I don't give a whoo-ha. This is some solid reporting, analysis and important information they're getting out in the blog-la-sphere. Great job.
Secondly I am bummed I wasn't invited to read at the blogger reading. Maybe next time. I am prepared to regale the attendes with stories of naddering NIMBY naybobs, negatory nanny state control freaks and blathering, blogging dum dums in need of razor blade gargles and play sessions on the freeway.
On to the matter at hand. I found a comment on a post so baffling I had to elevate it to front page status.
I am baffled as to what tax dollars are being wasted by Zuma Dogg going to public comment - even to the extreme of putting on the Gene Simmons mask (still my favorite) or allegedly dancing like Justin Timberlake? The meeting goes on without Zuma, the Councilmembers are late and waste their time on long ass boring presentations without Zuma, they still conduct foreign policy whether Zuma is there or not and they still pass shady event waivers whether Zuma is there or not. There is no additional cost associated with Zuma - that is unless his Brown Act rights are violated or he's abused by security - which of course could be very expensive. Those are all choices made by the Clowncil, not ZD.
The Clowncil can easily waste more money in one vote than a decade of Zuma Dogg antics would effect. So I am baffled.
People may not like the way Zuma looks, talks, dances, smells, whatever. But agent provocateurs who engage in political theatre are 1) an American tradition going back to the Boston Tea Party and 2) More importantly, a vital and necessary check on government excess especially when the media is out to lunch. Many times, Zuma is right and he brings to light important issues. Why do you think his phone rings off the hook and we get tons of email from government whistleblowers who trust Zuma to get their information out there.
Indeed, its the "jealous cry-baby losers" who just might have something to lose if Zuma shed some sunshine on them. Otherwise they wouldn't bitch and complain so much. If Zuma were not so powerful, he'd be another one of the many goofy gadflies who have graced City Hall and may elicit a snicker or perhaps an "Oh shit" from Clowncil members, spinners and lackeys, but never the second, third or fourth thoughts many of you give to Zuma.
There is major corruption and shady dealings going on in local government and a number of attendant community organizations, businesses, unions, developers, etc. who all have their finger in the pie. When the MSM refuses to lift a finger, thank God we have Zuma and others who dedicated their lives (however you may judge them) to these causes.

No - Incorrect! He serves the "purpose" of being a CITIZEN who WISHES TO EXCERCISE HIS RIGHTS! THAT is the only "PURPOSE" he MUST fulfill!
And, incidentally, though I probably do not agree with him on all issues, he serves quite a few other "purposes", among them bringing to light many things the citizens should be aware of and would not likely otherwise!

The poster was clearly making a valid point, that by being open to public comment and sitting there listening to constituents is something intended to allow people to make spur of the moment important grievances known to the governing city body. It is not intended for an uneducated moron to force them to sit for an extra five of six minutes, whatever the max is these days, listening to an idiot telling them wha't wrong with them and having nothing to contribute.
If Higby/Sam really can't see this, he is either playing dumb, or wants to do anything in his power to disrupt city government and anyone who works with the Mayor. Although tht makes no sense, not all of those people even like the Mayor but they have to work together.
It sounds like Higby is really upset because the smart posts they used to get have disappeared, so he can't say it's one or two people who are obsessed with zuma like he used to claim. There are now posts every few hours and no one shows up to the party. Zuma is to reporting what quacks are to real doctors.
And the proclamations you bitch about are to honor people who have done real and important things for the city, not people who act like hysterical clowns for their own P R. Maybe not everyone cares, but hey maybe get five minutes to honor a lifetime of achievement not that time every day like a spoiled brat saying "look at my, mommy and daddy, acting like a fool and syaing I hate you." Higbynshould think twice before he turn this into a referendum of Zuma Dogg's usefulness to this blog, especially after he got his ass served last week. That Jury came back along time ago.

I am first time poster here doing research for another matter but saw this thread and found it interesting.
For those of you who wish to talk about "rights", absolutely NO "right" in the Constitution is absolute. There are limitations placed on every last one of them.
Using the most liberal interpretations of the 1st amendment, and combining it with the legislative intent of permitting a citizenry the ability to redress grievances without fear of reprisal has caused some government bodies to permit off-topic rantings, singing, dancing and other types of "speech" that if done even on a street corner may cause the individual to be arrested for disturbing the peace.
The fact is that this type of speech is often NOT protected under the 1st amendment. Everyone knows that you can't scream fire in a crowded movie theater, (unless of course it was actually on fire) but when someone makes a spectacle of themselves by dancing, singing, or generally not offering legitimate commentary during a public hearing, that individual is depriving someone else of their civil liberty to express their legitimate concern.
What often happens with Municipalities, is in an effort to avoid litigation the City Attorney will apply the most liberal interpretation of the rights of the individual, essentially offering from the cities standpoint the most conservative opinion he can which tends to embolden individuals to continue their bad behavior.
That doesn't serve this Democracy one iota, in fact it threatens it.
3:02 is correct, as everyone has been trying to explain to zuma and higby/ sam for a long time. One person who abuses the system threatens democracy for everyone. When six people copy him and show up to waste up to half an hour each day and are ignorant and annoying and even rude, that becomes a serious issue. If a dozen people showed up and did it, the rules would have to be changed and hurt everyone. It would be the taxpaying citizens with real issues and problems who would be hurt. So Zuma is hurting real citizens who might really need that opportunity.
I find it really silly that people think that Zuma is a threat to Democracy and the reason for the fall of the Soviet Union.
The bigger threat is government corruption, of which, its rampant. And because of that, yes its a good thing that the government be disrupted. We as citizens should make it very hard for government to do things - that is one more check and balance on those who would avail themselves of the public treasury.
I've done some internal investigations and research - the anti-ZD wave is so shallow you'd have to laugh.
And again - I don't totally endorse what Zuma does. Even when he makes me laugh. Why does Zuma make me laugh? Because he makes self-important assholes who are ripping us off look like the fools they are.
If he has to act like a fool to do it, so be it. You may look at the dancing or the singing or whatever - but listen to the words man. The guy knows what's going on.
And that's why you're scared. Otherwise if he was a clown you would not think twice. Somehow he threatens you and its more than wasting time at Council. Cause if wasting time was the issue every CM wastes 1000% more time than Zuma.

Very unlikely, however, if the body of our employees found that every time they met, masses of individuals showed up to "waste time" by standing at the microphone to play and sing for six minutes, I am sure they would find a way to handle it that would not squelch citizens' rights such as, perhaps, limiting all activity at the podium to spoken comments and discussion only, no singing, giggling, skipping, hopping or dancing allowed. This, to say the least, is a VERY unlikely scenario. If you happen to have one or two more colorful citizens who present their comments in a more unorthodox manner for six or ten minutes that hardly seems an undue burden for chronic time wasters to bear. It certainly bears NO resemblance to "yelling 'fire' in a crowded theater"!
You keep referring to ZD as not being a citizen or something you call "not a REAL citizen"... It is unclear what a "real citizen" is unless you mean, for example, as compared to an illegal. One is either a citizen or they are not.

Well said! I, likewise, frequently do NOT agree with ZD, but will defend absolutely his right to express his opinions and concerns! We live in a very dangerious age where those who subscribe to the PC way are trying to find ways to limit and deny rights to those who do NOT subscribe to the PC way ... vigilance to fight these types at this time is critical! Thanks for the input"; or OTHER public comment speakers start echoing your comments; and radio talk show host say, "Wow Zuma, you've been talking about that for a while, and I haven't heard anyone talk about it and you were right"...
I WOULD SAY THAT'S CONTRIBUTING! So shut the f*ck up you loser. Either assemble a crowd of at least 100 people or more; bring the cameras and let's do a live debate/town hall forum. Just to clarify and be fair, a number of the posts supporting ZD above are mine and I am NOT ZD, I don't know ZD or anyone else here at this blog. I am not an "insider", simply an enraged and fed up CITIZEN!
I hardly ever post on this site, but like many people I know who simply read this blog site occasionally due to news about our city that can not otherwise be found, I appreciate the efforts of Zuma Dogg to shine light on the vestiges of power - both at city hall and now - at least for a bit - at the County Board of supes.
I don't agree with everything Zuma Dogg says, but I agree with much of his concern about the abuses of power in government, the excesses of government, and the overdevelopment efforts in this city - which are also all about those in power staying in power and money.
And I also appreciate that Zuma Dogg has the time and effort to make sure some who might be watching on television know there is a watchDOGG like him speaking truths on behalf of the citizenry.
It is interesting to me - and offensive - to see postings of profanity and other intelligible rantings which are obviously designed to lead reporters and others of us who are interested away from this blog. As long as ZD, Joe and others continue to speak up and post important info for the citizenry (like the recent info about Autry/Southwest Museum/Griffith Park expansion - which has not been available anywhere else I've seen), then I will keep reading - and trying to ignore the efforts to lead me elsewhere.

Thank you, silly sots, for proving me right. On a previous thread the other evening I made reference to those who would engage in discrediting the lad known as Zuma and, if you will, to punctuate my remarks I stated that if further discretization of Mr. Dogg's character were to continue it would prove that those who throw the eggs are being paid by those who control the golden goose, savvy?
I was right. (Crew nods in agreement and helmsman extends middle finger to sots. Navigator farts in the general direction of the sots. Sots gag and fall over in dead faint) Apparently the crew feels the same, only in a more hostile manner.
Now, I don't always agree with everything that the lad has to say. God's toenail, I don't agree with the vast majority of the slop that gets posted here. (Looks disdainfully at dirt on fingers and rubs fingers together to expel dirt) But there is one thing that I keep in mind when reading (and writing my own) slop such as this and that is that everyone....EVERYONE...is entitled to their own wrong opinion.
I would remind you stupid Yanks that 200 and some odd years ago, you all got your skirts hiked up to your arses and made a big whoop-de-doo about being able to express yourselves without fear of censorship, wanting to be able to say what you wanted to say without reprisal, and so on and so forth. AND THEN YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED. Now, a select few of you Yanks, the very people who went so bloody looney over the right to speak freely now feel that they have the right to be the arbiter of free speech. (Leans in close to sots) Let me ask you this, o brilliant political scholars, who died and made YOU King? As a legal immigrant who is now a naturalized citizen, I can't begin to tell you how foolish you all look for, if you will, you are oh so very quick to quickly claim those rights of free speech and just as quickly turn right around and decide who has the right to speak and who doesn't. (Scratches head) You small sector of the population are nothing more than a bunch of over-rated wind bags with all the sensitivity of a teaspoon, you are.
And before you decide to turn your silly arses towards me because you have decided that I am now the target du jour for pointing out to you how truly ignorant you are, I would remind you that I am now one of you, except I'm a little more intelligent about how I go about treating my fellow citizen, savvy? And for the record, my remarks are not solely in defense of Mr. Dogg, but of anyone (including yours truly) who happens to not share the same popular opinion as you paid-by-the-letter sots whose opinion is about as creditable as a the CEO of Countrywide who says his company is NOT IN TROUBLE, savvy?

I don't post on Zuma's threads because in the past when I have been critical of ZD to ZD, he has deleted my posts and then used "pornography" as the reason.
Also, yeah, Zuma's antics can have a far-reaching negative effect. Several weeks back, I had a good bill in front of the L.A. City Intergovernmental Relations Committee and I needed a timely return call from one Doug Tripp. Of course, I didn't get that return call when I needed it before the weekend because Doug Tripp happened to be pre-occupied with his testimony at Zuma's "Crime of the Century" trial. So, it is not just in public comment that ZD can prove wasteful of the public's time, money and resources.
Should MS euthanize the Dogg? Absolutely not. But if this blog is heading for just another weekend beatdown of the dogg, then what is the point of calling it "Home of Los Angeles Politics"?
9:31 and 9:50 = Mayor Sam, similar wording to the lead-in on the thread. Talk about similar language and word patterns. Probably "enraged citizen" is him, too.
But who is Captain Sparrow, that he is using zuma dogg this way? Obviously wanted to establish him as a "voice," and is concerned that everyone sees the guy is a total braggart and fool, so can't convincingly carry any message he claims to want to get out there.
Because by this time, zuma could yell FIRE in a crowded theater and no one would turn around, even if there really was a fire. Who could care about using zuma this much?
That's the real question here -- ?

Good evening 11:45pm (tips hat) Who am I? I am me and we are 7 altogether. And my Five plus a Two and a Six for a Wicked 13. And in the past even my posts have been deleted. Why, I do not know. I would surmise that it's because I hit the nail on the head and the head didn't care to be hit by Captain Jack's velvet hammer.
As for the juicy tidbits, there are a few cans of worms that have yet to be opened. They currently sit locked in a safe in a private residence in the Valley waiting for open season to commence.

A guy who wastes everyone's time scrolling through his interminably long posts to get to some cogentcy from Mayor Sam or Joe Mailander.
A smelly vagrant who begs for money for coffee, food or gas, and who dances and sings in the halls of the City Hall, Hall of Admnistration, or LAUSD, making a total fool of himself, while others squirm waiting to transact serious business.
This blog has really disingrated into a Dogg beating that is almost the equivalent of Michael Vick, but not quite. The only difference is that his dogs did nothing to deserve it, while Sam's Dogg brings it on to himself with his insulting and time wasting ways. Because he has nothing else to do with his worthless life, why do we need to be along for the ride?
He has found a captive audience at public meetings, and his dire need for attention has led him to this point.
Sam, if you persist in allowing him to post here, it will be the end of the this blog. People are leaving all the time. We no longer post to his posts, so there is the proof positive for you.

This dogg brags that he put the city through a jury trial to try to get rid of his money-wasting and insulting ways and keeping the city employees from doing their jobs of serving constituents! I always thought jack was doc. but it just hit me, what if it is that little dude who runs a shady valley organization that is really just a grass roots "front" for a CM run, which he will never win because he lacks true leadership qualities and he will not be able to prevent his hostility from seeping out during the campaign and voters will see right through it, especially when I call it to their attention.
However, Jack does come up with some clever stuff, unlike certain other anonymous pussies.

Captain Jack, when I said I thought Doc was Jack, I meant Jack Hoff. Oops...MY BAD. I could see the confusion. I think the last person ZD would accuse Cpt Jack of being is Doc. That would be like saying I though 2pac was Biggie.
So I was saying that I felt Jack Hoff was Doc, but maybe it was shady valley operator with the napoleon complex. Which if it was, I would have slightly more respect for...but not really.
