Pledge Break Y'All

Writing, editing and publishing a blog as significant as the Sister City takes quite some time. At present the blog is an avocation for the writers that we pursue in our spare time.

Moves are underfoot to make some major changes to the blog to increase and improve content and provide our readers with even more of what they have come to expect and enjoy here with Mayor Sam and the gang. We also wish to spread the word of the blog around the blog-LA-sphere so that more readers can just make for a better blog.

In order to achieve all these things - and to give our bloggers some recompense for their work - we'd like to ask our readers to make a contribution. That is if you enjoy reading and participating in this blog, please drop us some cash. If anything, I'd like to cover Zuma Dogg's trips to City Hall as that provides a valuable public service.

Please consider a donation of whatever size you can make. You can do it online, its fast and easy. And unlike other blogs, we won't spam you or make fun of public radio personalities.

For the record, I'm not asking for, and have never received, any money in connection with this blog. None of the donations will go to me. I write more out of abnormal compulsion than anything else.

I'm abnormally compulsed, too...but as usual, Mayor Sam brings up some great points, and who am I to argue? Sam, I love you for this post. And for the record, I had nothing to do with this. I'm shocked and happy as hell. Hell yeah...holla at ya boy with an Eli Broad, Richard Riordan or David Geffen sized donation. Give Mayor Sam such a big donation, that he can buy the LA Times, fire those fools, and replace them with Mayor Sam bloggers. Hoooody hooooo! On the realest dough, and begging for your donataions...Big ZD, from the 213.

New industrial hip-hop jam, "I Am Big ZD" from ZD at Zuma’s Podcast Page Including the smash hit, “I Am Big ZD”. And that, my friends, is worth a couple hundred thousand, in itself...On the realest dough.

Both the boys are right neither of them have asked me for a dime, however when the time comes that the blog starts earning some dough, Mayor Sam is going to spread some of the love. More importantly, as the blog begins to earn more funds, those funds can be used to pay for resources to improve the blog overall.

For the record, I wasn't asked for my opinion about the wisdom of going the pledge break route.

And, for the record, I object to it. And I'll not stay with the blog if it doesn't do a complete disclosure of how much money it raises via this route.

That's nice, and that's appropriate---you agree that it's capitalism to ask for money. Nothing's wrong with capitalism.

Hey, maybe General Motors should also ask for pledges when they come up short selling cars!

He didn't say he was opposed to the idea, just wanted disclosure.

But regarding the GM analogy, they sell their product for money. I obviously post on MS without getting paid for it, and will continue if a penny never comes in...but nothing wrong with the people who ENJOY this blog, to kick-in (those who can easily afford it), to allow it to carry on. Personally, I HATE missing out on a day of showing up at City Hall because I don't have the gas money. And sometimes, it is that late night donation, or early morning donation, that allows me to carry on for one more day.

He's not making it a pay-per-view site...But there are people who can easily afford to help MS carry on.

But personally, I thought I was the only one contributing or reading (besides Don) who needed it.

Mayor Sam why don't you allow more advertisers? Enough consumers log on here that it would be to their best interest. Other blogs have their papers, and commercials. You can make a killing.

We are working on an advertising program. I am not going to say much more about that publicly, but we are going to a different model than what we have been using.

There are things we have to do to get there and part of that requires some money. And I would like to be compensated for some of my time. Hell all the politicans and hacks and bureaucrats and union people etc. are paid handsomely, why must the bloggers here be volunteers?

There are some tangible items to improve the blog that require money and we need to do that. Also, I'd like to make sure we have enough cash on hand to get Zuma Dogg's expenses covered. He incurs expenses to contribute to the blog and that should be reimbursed.

And heck - I think its high time the bloggers here had a company Christmas party after two years. :)
