The Democratic nominee will be Steve Westly. He's got the money to run TV ads.

The winner in November will be Governor Schwarzenegger. Westly won't be able to overcome the celebrity of Arnold.

In the unlikely event that Angelides is elected Governor, California will declare bankruptcy when he pushes through a "college education" for every state resident. College degrees will become as valuable as a prize in a Cracker Jack box.

What to expect from a second term from Governor Schwarzenegger? Lots of plot turns and a Hollywood ending.

Westly will win a close primary. I predict...

Westly 48%
Angelides 46%
Other 6%

Too early to tell who will win in the general. Arnold is more vulnerable than people think.

A. Angelides pulls out the dem win... barely.

B. Schwarzenegger stays as Governor.

C. This will allow Mayor Villaraigosa the chance to run in 2010 as the top Dem in the state, and no prevailing Rep to challenge him.

Lets ee if the Dems are smarter than the Republicans in choosing their candidate. Republicans repeatedly choose the farthest right wing extremeist of the available candidates because they play well to the party faithful in the primary - then get slaughtered in the general. If Angelides - who has all the party elite behind him - wins, Arnold will prevail. If the more moderate Westly wins Arnold wont have the tax and spend card to play against him as easily and he could be in trouble.

Exactly right. There is a huge difference between tax-and-spend Angelides and moderate Westly.

Elect Angelides and lose by 10+ points.

Elect Westly and you have a shot at beating Arnold, especially considering Westly can self-finance and kick in another 30 or 40 million of his own money.

I predict several unexpected outcomes in the upcoming primary, the Democratic Assembly races are active and competitive. This is good business for mail houses and cookie cutters.
