West LA Online is speculating who might follow 5th District Councilman Jack Weiss when he is either termed out in a couple years, or on the unlikey scenario he would be elected to succeed City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo in the even more unlikley scenario Rocky becomes State Attorney General. Volunteers are being asked to line up now.The Sunday Times has a story about state and local government efforts to reform eminent domain laws in light of a Supereme Court decision that allows them to take private land for transfer to developers. Most are banning the practice, only allowing eminent domain to be used to take land that would be used for clear, public uses such as building roads, bridges, schools, etc. Lets hope California is able to enact such legislation statewide, cause you know our City Council would never pass such rules.
David Zahnhiser, writing in this week's LA Weekly, details some of the high concept thinking going on at the third floor, with regards to how the LAUSD would be broken up and brought under Mayoral control. Not surprising, teachers' union president, A.J. Duffy is not happy with the ideas.

West LA Online wouldn't be asking for volunteers if it wasn't likely that Rocky would win the Attorney General's race. He'll do a great job for California.
Rocky couldn't even do a good job for LA let alone CA. His corruption on not making the slum lords pay their fines and taking campaign money from the billboard companies and not filing on them is all it will take. He's having his city staff campaign in all the communities on city time. He better tell them that's against ethics commission.

School Makes Kids Use Buckets for Toilets
INGLEWOOD, Calif. - A principal trying to prevent walkouts during immigration rallies inadvertently introduced a lockdown so strict that children weren't allowed to go to the bathroom, and instead had to use buckets in the classroom, an official said.
Worthington Elementary School Principal Angie Marquez imposed the lockdown March 27 as nearly 40,000 students across Southern California left classes that morning to attend immigrants' rights demonstrations. The lockdown continued into the following morning.
Marquez apparently misread the district handbook and ordered a lockdown designed for nuclear attacks.

Delgadillo...His only public experience was as a legal adviser to Rebuild L.A. and as a deputy mayor under former Mayor Richard..his campaign has experienced some tough going in its initial stages..when political consultant Larry Grisolano decided not to manage his campaign...said the two differed over how the campaign should be conducted..Delgadillo's administration..has come under criticism in recent months..City Controller Laura Chick, who has questioned the number of private firms Delgadillo has hired...Many of the firms are contributors to Delgadillo and there have been questions over whether they are performing work that should be done by city lawyers. Delgadillo defends his policies by saying he has reduced liability payouts.
