Its quite an experience to be disconnected from the world when your cable TV and internet go out for a week. Its a pleasure to be back and you can expect everything you've expected from us before and then some not that we're back.LAist (through YouTube) has the complete, uncut, unaired "South Park" episode - "Come Out of the Closet Tom" that has the Church of Scientology up in arms. Check it out before it gets booted off the web.
The anti-Home Depot folks think I am all wrong, but what does it matter. They don't want a Home Depot and I'm all for it. But they were nice enough to send over news that Mayor Villaraigosa has joined their cause and is opposed to Home Depot too. Hope he doesn't need a screwdriver or hammer to fix anything at the Getty House.
Brady Westwater blogs at the Palm Village Sun that a commission to decide the future of Neighborhood Councils in Los Angeles may not include anyone serving on a Neighborhood Council.
Remember the tripling of the car tax by Gray Davis three years ago? That's probably one of the reasons we have a Governor Schwarzenegger. The folks at the US Chamber of Commerce think it would not be best to slide backwards and are pulling out all stops for Arnold. Here's their latest message.
Good things continue to happen for Jerry Brown in his race for the Democratic nod for Attorney General over LA City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo. Jerry's reporting he's got a $1.6 million fundraising lead over Rocky, as well, he received the endorsement of the California School Employees Association.
LA County Board of Supervisors candidate David Hernandez is proposing some interesting ideas for mass transportation. Among them, suggesting as an alternative to Mayor Villaraigosa's "Subway to the Sea" an "Expressway to the Future," that is a monorail down Wilshire Boulevard. Some of the transit geeks might poo poo the idea, but its worth looking at.

Jerry's such an embarassment. He thinks he still has a chance to win despite the ongoing criminal investigation into his vandalism and racist comments at a bar in Oakland earlier this month.

The mayor faces opposition to his plan from the district, teachers union officials and officials from the 27 other cities served by LAUSD. A number of those cities have adopted a resolution opposed to mayoral control of the district.

The only embarassment is the attorney we have representing out city - namely Mr. Rockard Delgadillo. This man will be a continuing source of embarassment as long as he is in office - slumlords and bill board barons are in charge of his office. I am only tempted to vote for him to get him out of our city. But alas, this would be worse for all of us.
Huizar didn't even know what was going on until the "comunity" started sending e-mails informing eachother the Jewish Center had been demolished. That's when one of Jose's field staffers told him and he decided to after the fact do something. Another CM asleep at the wheel.
What is amazing is that we have a City Attorney with one year of actual legal experience running the CA's office. Incredible.

Council District 6 should be first in line to resign.
Neither a subway nor a Disney-esque monorail to the ocean makes any economic sense. The only cost-efficient way to provide mass transit in L.A. is to have busses run in "bus only" lanes.
I had a very nice and informative meeting with the Bus Riders' Union yesterday, and, sure, I drank the Kool-Aid, but they make a great deal of sense when it comes to the allocation of those scarce mass transit dollars. I'm going to read their plan. Look into it yourselves. We really need to do something about the traffic, if possible.

· Padilla has a nearly $300,000 cash on hand advantage over Montanez.

Seems the damn activists are taking advantage of the poor South LA Farmers. Again, outsiders having their own agenda and the "real" people getting screwed. Why isn't the Times reporting on this story?
The folks in Sunland need to wake up and be thankful that any business would even WANT to build in that town, full of homeless people and drug addicts. Can't you see that a Home Depot might even clean the town up a bit??
