Los Angeles Airport of Orange County
Screw it. If it worked for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, why not the airports. Los Angeles Aiport of Ontario? Los Angeles Aiport of Palmdale? Think I'm nuts. Here's proof that it works.
Airport Uses Name Change to Land 2 Airlines
If Orange County can steal LA's name when it is convenient, why can't we steal theirs?

MF,
L.A. DOES steal their name "when it's convenient...
"The Big Orange"
Ever hear that one? And they DON't mean Anaheim or Santa Ana when they say that!

Oh, I thought it was Home Depot.

The City has used the name "LA/Ontario International Airport" for a couple years for marketing purposes within the travel industry. (Rockford, in fact, got the idea from us.) The thought was that tourism professionals unfamiliar with the proximity would be more likely to book Los Angeles-bound clients into this airport if "LA" were in the name.
For examples of this usage, please see the City of Ontario website (http://www.ci.ontario.ca.us/index.cfm/17873), the LA Convention & Visitors' Bureau website (http://www.lacvb.com/travelpro/jsp/more2.jsp), the Air Cargo World online airports directory (http://www.aircargoworld.com/directories/2005_ad/ca.htm).

Hmmmmm. LA also owns Ontario, thereby giving us a tad more credibility when using the name.

And contrary to the ads, ONT is NOT thirty minutes closer to Downtown than "the other airports". Apparently LAWA has never heard of The Century Freeway, nor do they know that the 10 freeway westbound always locks up a few miles before the 605, negating any alleged time advantage.
