Why is his wife serving on this commission, is she a volunteer or paid staff? If paid, how much would she make? There are far more better and qualified people than Corina to nominate for commission spot at ECP.
Question for Mayor Sam or any LAUSD official who reads here at this site:
Did a couple of LAUSD high schools get taken over by the state? I heard Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson H.S. were taken over and recently remodeling those campuses? Is there any truth to this?

Playing it safe now, on the blog. Just news briefs, no commentary.
"On advise of counsel" - no doubt.
TOO LAAAAATE!

are you REALLY asking LAUSD officials a quesiton on a blog? what an idiiot

Not an idiot, total opposite, LAUSD and YOU read this blog. Any one can answer or give an opinion. Your the idiot for putting a cap on your mind.

Why bash Corina? She's been a teacher for many years. LA's Best is a education program, why not enlist the First Lady of LA to bring needed attention to a worthy program.. I think it was a smart move by that commission to enlist her support. She proabably has a little more contact with the Mayor than most!
Anonymous said:
So you are saying it is who you know, not what is best for the kids...wow, what a rude awakening! And I thought corina was picked for her achievements instead I find out she's the wife of the short mayor.
Anonymous said:
I hope she wasn't a teacher from the dysfunctional LAUSD family...it would be a shame to put a failure in such a new program.
Anonymous said:
Oh wait, I forgot, we are sort of used to putting failures underachievers up for office. Our mayor recieved a degree from UCLA with a mere 1.8 GPA...I didn't even know this was possible. Here I am telling kids to get a 2.0 or higher, what for, you can have a disgusting GPA and still manipulate the land contractors and unions to help you get in office.

Gloria Molina doesn't have a degree, she took a couple of East Los Angeles College courses, that's it!
I heard she rubbed on the right legs to get where she is at...

On any committee, each member brings different things to the table. Mrs. Villaraigosa brings the ability to bring media attention, visability, and direct access to the Mayor. I'm sure theres a enough PHD's and political appointees on any committee to handle the nuts and bolts. First 5 and LA's Best aren't new..... or haven't you been involved or donated to issues addressing children's needs?

Gloria used to be fine. She even used those outdated pictures for her last campaign race - in 1991 against Art Torres. Imagine, being one of the most "powerful" Latinas in the country and not having a contested race in nearly 15 years!
On a side note, Ron Martinez, Gloria's husband, is also a paid "consultant" to L.A. Best. His company was rated third out of three but he got the job anyway because Mike Hernandez rushed it through. The owner of the company that rated first, a Cal State Northridge professor and Ph.D. was so frustrated she folded her company and vowed never to bid for another city contract. These are the type of Latinos Tony is letting in to play - by the way, Ron was Tony's best man at his sham wedding.

Rick orlov or steve hyman, are you reading the previous post. Why don't you guys write about this unethical stuff that happens in our gov.

BAD move Antonio! The "nicer" people in the city have spared the Mrs. from a lot of the criticism (and ridicule, over your screwups), in part because she was "just the wife" of a public figure.
Now you're hanging her out to dry there as a REAL public official in her own right. You're letting the genie out of the bottle, opening Pandora's box and all that stuff.
Kid gloves will come off, and there won't be anyway for your supporters to scream back that detractors are "attacking the family."
Re-think that before all hell breaks loose, Mr. Mayor.
(5 cliches, by my count)

While your at it, look into Ron Martinez dealings with Barrio Planners and their subsidiaries. Frank Villalobos, the president of Barrio Planners has long been a Molina supporter and she has rewarded him with millions in contracts with the MTA. Frank has been paying Ron for years.
Barrio Planners also had a contract with Community Health Foundation - the largest Latino primary care provider in the nation. They went under in 2002. Not a whisper when this $40 million a year publicly funded health provider went under. Ron Martinez was also a paid consultant to this agency and brokered the deal with Barrio Planners to build new clinics. Molina's staff had family working here. And Rudy Diaz, Community Health Foundation's Exectuive Director was Villaraigosa's brother in-law.
Where is the scrutiny?

Any other Antonio Villaraigosa family members in KEY positions to soak up the poor mans dollars or just plain TAX dollars and claim fraudulent expenses and companies going bell up?
Anonymous said:
Well Tony did appoint Raul Estradas to a commission. He's antoher poverty pimp who heads a drug rehab clinic called El Centro. Now that Deborah Villar is divorced from Rudy Diaz, Raul is her boyfriend. Tony appointed him to a commission but he suddenly pulled his nomination. I guess that's the ticket, get into Deborah's pants and you'll get a fat government funded paycheck.

I work for a living -- couldn't be unproductive enough to be a City employee and still sleep at night.
The "Mrs." may be tough enough (she would have to be, considering Tony's track record of personal embarrassments), but Antonio's groupies will go into total meltdown and act as if the world comes to an end if anyone from his "picture-perfect" family is ever exposed to criticism -- even if one is an "appointee" who's actions may warrant it.
I've been in the room when they curl up and begin to shriek in pain when he's criticized (let alone a family member) and don't think there's enough Xanax in the city to help them deal with that mental anguish. Plus I don't want falling bodies hitting my car as I drive down the Pasadena Freeway near Mount Washington, when the cult followers start ending their own lives in despair.

Yeah, remember the good old days when - to shut people up - dummies like that would always claim the people that opposed them were "blogging in city time." Now that the hoods are off, turns out NO ONE was inside after all.
Ha!
I've always found that the people downtown are the last ones to know what's really going on in the city, they've probably been looking up here to find out what theire bosses really ARE doing.

Last I heard is that Rudy Diaz is consulting for a clinic in Barstow, or maybe Blythe. He was very upset about the fact that Gloria let his clinic fail. His clinic was the only one servicing undocumented children without turing them away. Gloria in her rage opted not to use her multi-million dollar discretionary evnthough she could have bailed this clinic out. This is the money - 15 million - that is going to the Latino museum where it would be an economic boost for her Olvera Street buddies.
Rudy had divorced Deborah by then but shameless as she is, she stayed on the payroll and was one of the main disruptive influences which contributed to the clinics downfall. Nothing like a woman scorned and she wanted to see Rudy fail. She even sued him after the clinic closed. The only losers here were the 80,000+ patients from East L.A. that now had to go to General Hospital for service, that is if they could tolerate the 14 hour wait.
This is politics in East L.A.. Vindictive, ruthless and merciless. Damn anyone who gets in the way - even pregnant women, as in this case.

Phys. Ed!? Tony is a full fledged geek when it comes to sports. Have you ever seen him trying to play basketball - like a penguin with a herpes flair up. The only physical education Tony partook in was when he was out seducing his friends' girls - he definitely got a 4.0 for this.

Political watchers are revved up by the spirited battle to fill the 14th District City Council seat previously occupied by Antonio Villaraigosa. The two principal candidates, Nick Pacheco and José Huizar, have already given this race a high profile.
This is just the beginning, as other residential openings, restaurant arrivals and new development projects are bubbling up. In short, it's going to be a great season. Even if the sports teams stumble, as we fear they might, Downtown will still win big.
Anonymous said:
"Huizar exposed the LA School District's shameful dropout rate and forced the District to begin addressing the problem."
Who's fibbing? Do you want to know the person who exposed the dropout rate to the now Mayor?
Let me know.

some folka have said why am I inviting these people and that we shouldn't be politicizing this walk, well I don't care about that , we just need as many people there to help motivate our law abiding residents to encourage them to help us in cleang up the neighborhood or come out and walk.
Politicize is a lanme excuse for not coming out , this is not a nick rally or jose rally , it is a walk to let folks know we are tired of getting beat up and being the drop off point for people who aren't getting the services they should be after being let out of mental hospitals and prisons. It will be the residents of this area that will change things for the better . Without us it will continue to be the same.

Thanks Dgarzila.
The walk needs as much public participation to open awareness of homeless issues. What harms our fellow man, harms us too, so we need to help each other out in numbers.

Antonio has made so many questionable appointees to commission people are now realizing what an idiot he is. Cynthia Ruiz, campaign committee for AV for Mayor and godmother to his kid appointed Public Works and getting paid $108,000. John Mack, racist endorser of AV on police commission not getting criticized for his bias against LAPD. Valerie Velasco suing LA for LAX expansion now being questioned on commission. Raul Estrada on Board of Neighborhood Council Comm. appointed then secretly resigned. No one knows why. Antonio going to announce appointment of Rev. Logan to replace Raul Estrada on BONC another racist idiot who hates LAPD and friends with Tony Mohammed.
