LAPD Deputy Chief Roberto Arcos and the Coalition to Protect Lincoln Heights get Top Billing at Tomorrow's (Thursday) Meeting of the Montecito Heights Improvement Association

The Monthly Meeting of the Montecito Heights Improvement Association (MHIA) features presentations from LA Police Chief Candidate, current Deputy Chief Roberto Arcos and The Coalition to Protect Lincoln Heights, tomorrow evening (Thursday) at the Montecito Heights Senior Center. 

 LAPD Deputy Chief Roberto Arcos seeks to replace current Boss, Chief Charlie Beck, as LA's Top Cop. 

The Coalition to Protect Lincoln Heights will give a presentation on its continuing quest to expose CD-1 City Councilman Gil Cedillo's Measure HHH-financed Scheme to Develop Five Lincoln Heights Public Parking Lots into "Affordable/Market Rate Housing".

LAPD Deputy Chief.Roberto Arcos will engage the audience on his quest to replace retiring Chief Charlie Beck, which has become a politicize proceeding, compare to decades ago, when the process to select LA's Top Cop, was a supposed, non-political Civil Service exercise.

The Coalition to Protect Lincoln Heights will give a presentation on its continuing outing on CD-1 City Councilman Gil Cedillo's Scheme (with consent from Mayor Eric Garcetti), to use Measure HHH financing, to convert Five Lincoln Heights Public Parking Lots, into "Affordable/Market Rate Housing".

Chief among us!
The making of a chief is the story of Deputy Chief Roberto Arcos. On April 19th, at 7 pm, the Montecito Heights Improvement Association will host Deputy Chief Roberto Arcos, one of the most respected and admired candidates for Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department. He hopes to ascend to the position being vacated by LAPD Chief Charlie Beck who is retiring this summer. Chief Beck has headed the LAPD since being appointed by the Mayor of Los Angeles in November of 2009.

Deputy Chief Arcos was born in San Antonio, Texas, and attended high school here in Northeast Los Angeles. He has served in various capacities throughout the City of Los Angeles. From the day he came on the job in September of 1988, he has followed a slow but steady climb to his current position today as Deputy Chief. Along the long path to his current assignment he has served in various sectors of the city and consistently proven his leadership skills in many different and increasingly challenging assignments.

All community members are invited to come out to meet Deputy Chief Arcos and ask him about his vision of the future of policing in Los Angeles and what he would do if selected to the helm of the LAPD.

Deputy Chief Arcos hopes to be selected to head the 3rd largest police force in the nation, with 21 Stations (Divisions), over 10,000 sworn officers and 3,000 civilian employees. This police department covers an area that spans a little over 473 square miles in the 2nd largest city in the nation with a population just under 4 million people. 

These are our communities, our Police Department and hopefully our next Chief of Police. Anyone wishing to rise up to the challenge of taking such a monumental task as head of one of the largest agencies in the City of Los Angeles has to be admired. It is incumbent on all of us to ask the necessary questions and learn the intentions of our leaders.
