Mr. Krekorian: Fill Up This Hole!

Councilman Paul Krekorian has no problem filling up column inches with manufactured constituents in a local digital fishwrap; the City seems to not be able to address a dangerous sinkhole in North Hollywood.

Calls to the Councilman's office by locals have yet to be addressed, as the nearly foot deep hole, on Weddington Street in the NoHo Commons section, remains, well, sinking.

The best the City can seem to do is drop a couple rubber cones on it. In the meantime, the risk of someone driving into this remains, as well as the impact it has on traffic as cars pull over to allow passing vehicles to get around it (as well as the possibility of a head-on collision).

We notified the Council Member about this via his Facebook page a few days ago. Yet no response. But we did see what he has been up to.

Mike,

Who was it that you endorsed Krekorian over?

You should really reonsider making endorsements, because this isn't he first time it worked out well. The difference being that your voice carries far and wide, and could possibly be a difference maker.

Given your track record, maybe it's time to stop making recommendations.

Just mah two cents

I forgot to reiterate that I am glad you're back in control of this blog, whereas Scott was a maniac for CD14, and wouldn't post comments offering a p.o.v. different from his.

You voted for The Dark Lord. And now you have him.

I'm the only one who moderates comments and it has been that way for sometime. I eliminate a lot of stupid ones.

Phil. technically I did not. I did not live in the second district until my house was moved into it earlier this year. Before that, I was in the 4th District and I voted for Stephen Box.

Michael, Jennerjahn makes the point that you supported and lobbied hard for Krekorian on this blog. Whether or not you were eligible to vote for him, you did everything you could to get him in, and as Phil said, now you have him. Don't try to suggest that blame isn't deservedly laid at your feet.

It has been appalling to watch Paul Krekorian change from a human being to one of the 99.3% "consensus voter zombies" at the LA City Council. Krekorian, like Eric Garcetti, is now using his intellect in service of the lies and deceit cooked up in the back rooms of City Hall.

The voters needs to make sure neither of them return.

Michael,
The premise of your post is not accurate. As everyone can plainly see on Facebook, you asked the Councilman at 3:01 p.m. on Monday to look into it and we responded exactly 48 minutes later asking for the exact location, to which you did not respond. Our field reps do a great job of trying to be on top of all issues affecting our community, but we also rely on folks who drive, live and work in CD2 to let us know about problems that we can tackle. I see now that you have let us know where the location is. We have let DOT know and we thank you for alerting us.

Jeremy,

We stand corrected with respect to your response. As everyone knows Facebook is often wonky and I did not receive the notification that you posted a response. And because I don't visit your page often, I did not run across the response. As I told you in email, I would have expected a response to be in some other form than a Facebook comment. But I also understand you need to show to the public that you responded.

That being said - the fact remains the issue has not been addressed for over a month - and it's in a pretty high profile area.

Higby why does this Jeremy think you should be hanging out on Facebook for him to do his job?

HEY JEREMY:

Was that a REAL Facebook post, or did it include imaginary, "composite" field reps?

You are such a prick and are lucky to still have your job.

A month elapses with a big sinkhole in a street -- and the Councilman's office blames Facebook?

Councilman's staff doesn't know the district. Or get out much.

Facebook has nothing to do with it.

I was pretty tough on both Krekorian and Essel in my blog coverage of the CD2 special election. Krekorian did everything to evade answering questions on pension reform. Basically, his position was that it was not his job since he was not involved in labor negotiations. He fails to accept that it is everyone's job on the City Council to use their influence with the public unions to pay more for the generous benefits they receive courtesy of the taxpayers.

7:55, good point. I mean it's not like it's off on some minor, out of the way, residential side street. It's smack dab in the middle of some of the most active and priciest real estate of the district. We suggested some time ago that the 2nd Council District be placed in the NoHo area where all the activity currently is. Instead, they want to leave it in Valley Plaza which is dead, nothing is happening, the City can't and won't fix it.

Now that I'm a resident of the 7th Council District, I see a huge difference. I know Alarcon jumps on everyone for his ethics, which is justified, and there are a few issues in Sunland-Tujunga and other areas where stakeholders have valid reasons to be upset, but I have to say Alarcon is excellent at constituent service - at least compared to most other council members.

You are right about them not knowing the District. Again, in the Sunland-Tujunga office nearly all of the staffers are locals and all mature, veteran folks. Krekorian's office is primarily young kids who live in West Hollywood, Glendale, West LA and other communities not in the district.

Let's call the sinkhole Krekorian Kanyon. The city could offer mule rides to the bottom for a nice price and pick up some revenue.
