Mid-Day Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Scene for Friday
"Mayor Antonio Villar off to Mexico to tout Eco-Green Agenda"With the first major winter storm of 2010-2011 inbound for the weekend, Mayor Antonio Villar and entourage pack their bags for the warmer environments of Mexico City. Villar and other mayors of the world, will hack and cough as they discuss their respective green-based ideas for growing local economies, in the dirty, rarified air of Mexico's largest city.
As Villar and the other like-minded mayors discuss how to use the junk science of climate change to alter their respective economies, Villar is none too happy about another form of climate change taking place in California. That would be the "political climate change of citizen redistricting".
Villar bemoaned the fact that no Angelinos were among the pool of 36 applicants for the state's redistricting commission. This episode of civic pity brought about the ensuing witty retort from the keyboard of "LA Weekly of Record" Editor Jill Stewart, who poo poos "Mayor Ahhh Whinervillar's" bemoaning the lost cause of gerrymandering, perfected by the likes of Michael Berman.
So while Mayor Villar mucks up the already polluted air of Mexico City with dubious climate change pronouncements, based upon junk science. Positive political climate change, based upon elective facts, is coming to California and no episode of civic whining will alter this.

** The "Old Graying, Blue Hair on Spring Street" is doing its best to create news, that would counter the positive political climate change of citizen redistricting. Meanwhile the fail policies of "blue state economics", equates to a 12.4% unemployment.
** CD 10 City Council Candidate Austin Dragon is the latest to chat with KRLA's Kevin James, as he attempts to unseat Mayor Whinervillar's favorite backroom dealmaker City Councilman Herb Wesson. You can listen to his two segment chat, here and there.
** As a public service, we introduce the "UTLA Four" who have been annoited by the leadership of LAUSD's largest union of blue-state indoctrinators, to retake control of the LAUSD School Board. One might want to check on the health status of Heather Hodge Kolodny, who is the designated UTLA challenger to District Three School Board Member Tamar Galatzan. This via Galatzan former Campaign Consultant Michael Trujillo, who has a great track record of defeating candidates with health issues.
** Walter Moore reports via his blog, that CD 10 City Council Candidate and former Mayor Sam Contributer Althea Shaw, will be join by him, his wife and others as they gather signatures tomorrow.
** CD 14 City Council Candidate Tony Butka will greet perspective supporters and signature gathers tomorrow between 3-6PM at the Denny's on San Fernando Road and Fletcher Drive in Glassell Park.
** Why is Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustee Mona Field seeking the ballot designation of "Community College Professor", when she is currently a trustee? Maybe it has to do with her role in the LACCD's Van de Camp Bakery Campus Controversy?

It makes no sense to put that after "dirty."
What is "dirty rarified air?" If anything, the dirty air in Mexico City is NOT rarified.
You might want to look up these things before you attempt to use them in a story.

Dirty and thin air or rarified level of O2, is a good disrciption of Mexico City's air quality.

When people offer corrections of your misuse of the language, Mr. Citizen Journalist, you (especially you), should make an effort to look it up instead of pressing forward with the misuse. You already know you've been outed as illiterate. So you should put in an effort to better yourself, especially when you CLAIM you studied journalism in a community college. Clearly you didn't, or you failed the course.
While rarefied on its own, can refer to gases, when you say "rarefied air" it means of high moral or intellectual value; elevated in nature or style; "an exalted ideal"; "argue in terms of high-flown ideals"- Oliver Franks; "a noble and lofty concept"; "a grand purpose"
exalted, lofty, noble-minded, high-minded, idealistic, rarified, elevated, high-flown, sublime, grand, noble - having or showing or indicative of high or elevated character; "a noble spirit"; "noble deeds"
Rarefied air has NOT A DAMN THING TO DO WITH AIR! You're a fool for not looking it up when the commenter pointed it out.
Mona Field gave up Seat No. 3 on the Los Angeles Community College District Board. Then she filed papers to run for Seat No. 1 which is currently held by Sylvia Scott-Hayes, who is not running again.
On her papers for her new seat, she listed her occupation as "Community College Professor" which I guess refers to her proud work at Glendale Community College.
Apparently, she is so ashamed of her work on the LACCD Board in prior years she does not want to be seen by voters as the incumbent. But this is one incumbent that we need to make an example of for local politicians.
We have the Internet now so we will just have to make sure that everyone knows some of the insanely stupid moves Mona Field took while member of the Board of the LACCD. All community activists will be asked to open their email lists and forward to as many voters a possible the truth about the schemes of Mona Field.

It is unfortunate that so many waste time on nonsense while the city moves closer to bankruptcy and you move closer to losing you home. Where's that logic.

That's not what the CD map shows:
Denny's and the Community College/VanDeKamp project are WITHIN the CD-1 boundaries, part of the Ed Reyes turf deliberately carved out.

Glassell Park is uniquely, politically within the CD boundaries of Huizar (CD-14), Ed Reyes (CD-1), and Eric Garcetti (CD-13).
Geographically, Denny's is considered as a part of Glassell Park.
