Paul Krekorian: “forthcoming decision and announcement.”
Still nothing concrete from Assemblymember Paul Krekorian on whether he’ll seek to replace Wendy Greuel in CD2, but the latest communiqué clearly indicates he’s testing the water ahead of the filing deadline:
On name recognition alone, Krekorian would be a game-changer. … How well he’d be received in scrappy Sunland-Tujunga is another matter entirely. Stay tuned.

I would welcome the opportunity to continue to serve the people of Los Angeles in a new capacity and to build on the successes I have achieved in the State Assembly. I am actively exploring the opportunity to serve in the City Council, and I am discussing that option with friends and supporters whose outlooks I value to inform what will be a forthcoming decision and announcement. I am honored that so many local leaders and neighbors have expressed enthusiasm and support, and I have been strongly encouraged by their commitment.

I hear the Armenian community is putting pressure on Assemblyman Krekorian to step down from his seat so he can campaign for CD 2 full time. Tell that to people who voted for him and supported him for Assembly. But I guess it pays more and that's all that counts. Will he actually move into L.A. county?

Since Paul was re-elected in November is he willing to foot the bill that tax payers will have to pay for a Special Election in the 43rd Assembly District should he beat out the other political machine candidates?
How many senior or after school programs will have to be shut down for the summer just to cover the cost of him not keeping his commitment to the voters in the 43rd?

Paul is a decent guy. But his machine? YYYYYYUUUUUCCCCCCKKKK!
His staff is atrocious and his political consultant questionable.

I lost all faith in Paul Krekorian when I learned that one of the few bills he put forth this crucial session was AB 1271.
Current law requires a person to be a close relative or caretaker of an elderly voter to handle that voter's absentee ballot.
Under Paul Krekorian's bill, anyone -- any campaign -- any thug -- any non-citizen -- can handle someone's absentee ballot. The potential for abuse is huge.
Then, you learn that Paul's consigliere, Eric Hacopian, has been accused in the past of worrisome shenanigans involving -- you guessed it -- absentee ballots.
Who benefits? Yes, it's disgusting.

Last I checked Paul supported and endorsed Jack Weiss for City Attorney.

With friends like that it will not just be the Sunland Tujunga folks who will give you a pass.
What kind of council member will you be if you supported Jack when the folks in Sherman Oaks wanted him gone?

An anti establishment candidate must be found. Names, anyone?

In S-T, Paul would beat Tamar (as would anyone else because of her lame pro Home Depot husband, Brendon Huffman), but Paul he is viewed as a carpetbagger & career politician, not a good thing. Bill Robertson & Frank Sheftel seem to be popular, Mary Benson as well. Mary may have trouble connecting with those outside of Sunland-Tujunga. Bill is looking for a mandate from the people. Good luck on that. Frank has to explain his positions on the medical marijuana clinic he runs ( his is one of the few legit ones, but public perception can be a problem). If Abby Diamond ran she would secure the S-T vote, but she is not interested. This is going to be very very interesting!

I'd vote for cookie crumbs before I vote for Zuma Crumb.

Lou Pugliese's name has also come up. He's been a long-time CD2 resident back to his first school board run against Tamar. His name recognition is high, he gets votes, and he's a city commissioner. Maybe a real alternative.

810am is Higby.
He supported Pugliese for, what was it, school board? So funny you think he could win c2. Come on now higby. it's embarrassing to support Louis, but it's ur blog, so why hide?

If Pug actually campaigns, it will be interesting.
Does anyone know how a special CD election works? Can it still go to a runoff?

I'd prefer Mary Benson, but I do not think that it is meant to be.
We need to be very strategic on our choice, and we cannot let Sherman Oaks decide our fate for us.

Mary Benson, LOL! Anyway, Paul could carry Sunland and Tujunga because of a large Armenian community in that area.

Here's some facts PK will have to consider before he enters this race:
1. The State legislature has its lowest job rating in history.
2. He will be tagged as a cowardly, carpetbagging sacramento politician who cut and run after leaving the state with a $20 Billion budget deficit, healthcare and classroom cuts and not a single serious legislative accomplishment.
3. The last SAc POl to run in CD2 was Tony Cardenas who lost to Greuel --and that was during good economic times.
4. He instantly becomes a lame duck, perceived by his peers as useless. An embarassing loss will end his political career.
food for thought

Paul would be terrific in CD2! Watch out ladies. You may win the snobs in Studio City and S.O., but you won't win Sunland. You don't stand a chance in horse country. We want real men, who know how to do manly things in a manly way, representing us.

I think our community of Sunland Tujunga CD 2 could benefit from a level headed guy like Paul. He has all the same good attributes Greuel did. What's more though I would love for him to stay in Sacto.... i fear that because he isnt in anyone pocket in Sacto he can never climb to higher leadership in our corrupt State Capitol.
