As much as I love that quaint 20th century ritual of unfolding, spreading and devouring the old "black and white and read all over," I vote to pull the proverbial plug. Why? Because I have felt both politically and personally slighted by the likes of the L.A. Times for many years. Nothing's worse than being fed a daily "hard copy" diet of smug liberalism.
My opinion, since you asked, is to start doing HotSheets seven days a week becuz they are good, but to STOP doing open threads becuz they SUCK TIT.
Nope. Newpapers are DONE. All of them.
They received most of their income from advertising and now with Craigslist and other websites, people can buy, sell, and trade goods and services without paying them.
They will all go online.
Should newspapers be bailed out? Why? Because they do such a spectacular job? The only reason they exist is to disseminate information from the globalists who own them to the masses for the purposes of information control.
The internet is the last bastion of free speech on the planet. I say let the mainstream media burn to the ground.
Newspapers are doomed for extinction. Why bail them out when they are a dinosaur? Newspapers no longer have integrity like 50 years ago. They print lies & only support big business (their advertisers) and the political establishment.
I no longer read them after I've seen one used by one rich powerful person (from O'Melveney, Machiavelli & Meyers) to defame a member of my family. I know for a fact now that papers do not print the truth. How naive we Americans are to believe that newspapers are a voice for justice. I was brainwashed in my youth (Lou Grant). My kids do not read them ... nor would I want them to. The kids of today will not be the readers of the future. They could care less about newspapers. Do not let the politicians further abuse the taxpayer giveaway.
Without the newspapers my cat would have nothing to piss on...

You know how I see it. They dropped the ball. Let 'em die and replace 'em with something meaningful.
Newspapers are so... analog. Analog will soon be disappearing for television... the newspapers are dimming out now too.
But we have not yet hit upon the winning business model to ethically compensate excellent journalism on the internet.

Save a tree and use less paper. Unfortunately the internet is not free but more elitist. The lines at the libraries to use free internet is very long.
What price do we need to pay for information? Well information is a bit priceless....
I LIKE NEWSPAPERS AND SO DO MANY PEOPLE WHO AREN'T TECHNOSAVY!! BUT YOU CAN'T SAVE AN INDUSTRY THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE THEY HAVE TO GIVE PEOPLE WHAT THE INTERNET CAN'T THEN PEOPLE WILL GO BACK.
