I would love to toss that new Villaraigosa bobble head in there.
They put too much oil in for a turkey that size. They shouldn't have put it in frozen. They put it in too fast. You gently lower it in. I've fried many turkeys and never had that happen.

Dan, Bickhart has been telling Blackman what a horrible job Boks is doing. Bickhart is reporting all of Boks' missteps to Blackman. It's Blackman who is not doing anything about it. Attacking Bickhart will not get Boks fired. Try something else.
Actually, I don't think that Jim has been telling Jimmy Blackman that Boks is horrible. I think that Jim Bickhart states the truth and nothing else. I should know since I've worked with the guy for a few years now. Nobody (but a few wild nuts) in this town think that Boks is bad and he surely isn't worse than the line-up of 5 who were his predecessors. I don't think Bickhart cares if you publish one minute clips of him nodding off or if you accuse him of killing animals. This guy is steady as a rock and does his job daily. You can't argue with that. I am thankful that my boss won't cave in to those activists because he knows that they will just do the same with the next GM.
The animal nuts think Bickhart is stupid or corrupt, or worse, but the truth just may be that Blackman has his balls in a jar on his office shelf. Or maybe the guy's been around the block enough to know how to get things done without doing the grandstanding the activists always want politicos to be doing, whether it makes any sense or not.
I looked at that video, which begins with the premise that staying awake during a city commission meeting is necessary for saving animals in the pound. That's a dumbass presumption in the first place and says all you need to know about whoever made and posted the video. No one saves an animal in a city hall meeting room, especially not by making videos of sleepy staffers. Looks like there were at least two people wasting their time that day. Actually, the sleeper probably wasn't wasting his. I just read where you can't lose weight if you don't get enough sleep, and he needs to lose some weight!
Why do animal activists get all hot and bothered about one animal being killed? Aren't hundreds of thousands killed in California every year? How can they possibly sleep at night for all their failures? Beats me.
Is 10:29's "Dan" the one who made the video? There's a guy with no future in media and also probably won't be helping many animals any time soon either.
Daniel Guss made that video. Dan used to post here as Mayor Daniel until Mayor Sam realized he was crazy and kicked him out.
1:20 AV already gave in to the activists. He fired Guerdon Stuckey the last General Manager. He sent the elephant to a sanctuary.
The General Manager of Animal Services is not doing a good job. What's wrong with firing someone for not doing a good job? Who cares if the activists hate him or love him. The Mayor needs to look at his job performance.
Take a look at this chart. Since Boks became the General Manager the number of animals dying from illness and injury suffered in the shelter has tripled. three times as many animals dying 1,251 to 3,312. An extra 2,000 animals are dying from illness and injury. That is animal cruelty, animal neglect and mismanagement. If our prisons let that many more prisoners die from injuries and illness sustained in the prison, people would be up in arms about this.
3:03 animal nut, people are not the same as animals and comparing them is one reason people don't pay more attention to you animal activists.
I love my dogs and cats, too, and have rescued some from people who were moving and couldn't keep them, even though I had enough pets. But when I see people who treat their dog like a child and expect it to get the same attention, they're just sad.
Dogs bite some 800,000 people a year, is just one little difference.
If it makes you feel better, our jails suck, too. There's a story in todays L A Times that says up to 6 are housed in a room meant for 4, and they sometimes exercise outside the cell once a week. If that happened to animals, it would be called animal cruelty.
The ACLU and other activists have made some changes and moved prisoners into the new Twin Towers, and the Supes say we can't afford the huge cost of building a new jail. The one who wants a new jail, Antonovich, doesn't care about the crowding of prisoners on how they are impacted as humans, as a Republican conservative, he just wants more jails to house more inmates.
This is a serious issue, not some poor slob staff who's sleeping through a boring meeting that may not be his concern, anyway.
4:05 go to the shelter.There are sometimes up to ten dogs in a kennel meant for one. That's why they are dying.They kill each other fighting for the one food bowl and one bed. They are giving each other fatal diseases.
Dogs are supposed to be walked once a day. They are never walked. Cats are kept in a two foot square cage and are never allowed out. They are supposed to get vet care. There are only four vets to take care of 56,000 animals a year.
I don't think animals are equal to humans. I just think they should not be allowed to die slow and painful deaths due to mismanagement.
The guy sleeping in the meeting is not in charge of the Department.
I do think animal activists make the worst case for taking seriously their complaints about animals. The stuff you say sounds sad, but there are too many animals for the city to keep. I'm sure Boks could do a better job in planning and budgeting, and lots of people don't like him, plus his weird sexist fundraisers are an indication of his poor judgment.
Yes they should have more vets, dog walkers and all kinds of things. they just built a new, expensive shelter in the valley, but money is short in the city all around.
What I find saddest is that pets with loving owners can get out and end up in these shelters. Supposedly each found pet is on a website, but that's not advertised and I'm not sure it's true. There are expensive chips pound vets can read, but otherwise unless the pet has a collar, a lost pet is a real crisis.
I was lucky to find a dog and cat who got out and now they have collars with phone numbers -- everyone should do that for pets.
People often like adopting from happier places, like pet stores on weekend adoption events. Maybe the shelters could put the pets into a happy enclosure on Saturdays so kids can visit and choose them without getting depressed. That's the kind of innovation Boks should be worrying about, not mismanaging a program to train a few pit bulls, involving parollees, a Nevada madam, Hooters fundraisers and all kinds of bad judgment.
The West VAlley animal shelter in Chatsworth will have its "Grand Opening" Nov. 29th. They had volunteers decorating today.
Maybe they can bring more animals there for adoptions. But just having one in such an obscure location isn't going to help most of the animals get adopted. They need to play up adoption weekends, fixing up whatever shelters they've got for a Saturday or Sunday.
4:55 is full of crap. On the LA shelters worst days they don't have 10 dogs in one cage. That's the kind of made-up shit that gives Animal Services-haters such a bad reputation for making things up and going ballistic over one dog being killed to try to make us think the shelters are the worst thing since Belson. And you don't think they should die slow painful deaths, but I guess you're okay with them being killed wholesale daily.
And 3:03 is caught up in the silly numbers game that has sunk politics into a cesspool of trivia. Who cares if more animals got sick this year than last - those statistics don't mean anything unless you count them for several years. Then you can tell what's going on.
I think the public would be just fine with more people dying in prison. They don't understand why anyone is ever released anyway. Forget the court sentences. People think criminals should either stay in prison or die. So why should they care about some dumb animals?
Why is mayorsam allowing the animal nuts to take over again?
Why don't the animal activists open up their own shelter? Why do they always get hot under the collar about city-run shelters, but never take the time to start up their own operations? Would they prefer more carnage on the roadways as motorists turn stray pets into roadkill?
These activists suck.
Animal activists do have their own shelters. As private rescuers we are not allowed to have more than three animals at a time. Makes it difficult to save a lot.

The Daily News describes the luxurious space of the new shelter opening in Chatsworth this Thursday: individual doggie runs, kittie condos and such. Nice grassy areas and a family "adoption room."
Downside: only room for some 150 of each animal. In a $14 million dollar building w A/C, of course, like anything in the valley.
So what will they do with the thousands of animals who don't fit in there? Will more be euthanized if they're not most adoptable, and who judges? This does sound more like Belsen.
This is the downside of the demands of these animal nuts: fewer animals in more luxurious space, so they can feel better when looking at them.
Objective would be to be more like a pet store, be in a place of max exposure and faster adoptions, clean but not luxurious amt of space.
But oh yes that is a problem, too: among other reasons Britney was attacked for, animal activists get on her case because she bought a dog at a nice pet store.
3-5 animals in a cage is a far cry from 10, and 3:03 was only talking about a one year change in statistics, not eight. Compare apples to apples or shut up!
Once again an animal nut shows nothing but sloppy thinking designed only to sling mud, not fix any problems.
There's room for more than one dog per cage. (If you believe the hysterical animal nutz, they'll jam 10 in each cage!) Up to four can co-exist comfortably as long as they're decently behaved.
If the city didn't spend the big bucks on air conditioning, those same animal nutz would be crying "animal cruelty" the moment the place opened. The Valley can be, after all, a hellhole.
