Villaraigosa Reinvents Wheel With Education Plan
So here's the Mayor's brilliant, $104 billion plan to educate the nation and end poverty: "Villaraigosa on Thursday unveiled a $100 billion plan to guarantee a college education to future generations of American children."
Wow! Guaranteeing a college education! How revolutionary -- not.
Excuse me, but exactly how many high school graduates with, say, at least a "B" average are unable to go to college right now because it's too expensive?
The correct answer is "none."
We already have federal college loan programs, grants, work-study, heavily subsidized state schools with artificially low tuition, private scholarships, etc. Do you think yours truly came from a family that could simply write out a check for tuition at Princeton and Georgetown Law? Hay-ell no. I had loans galore, and repaid every one.
But no one in the press will call Villaraigosa on any of this -- much less the fact that children in his city get shot just trying to go to school, and, once there, do not even graduate from high school, much less college.
Why are we trying to push everyone into college? What's wrong with trade schools? How about we turn out some qualified contractors, mechanics, HVAC technicians, electricians, etc.?
The real reason for Villaraigosa's proposal, of course, is that he hopes to be Hillary's VP. Hence his urgent need to leave L.A. -- you know, the city he supposedly runs? -- behind so he can criss-cross the country to push his revolutionary education plan. Expect to see less and less of him here: "Over the next several months, Villaraigosa said, he and other task force members will travel to Miami and Detroit to seek support for the package."
By the way, who pays for all these trips? Perhaps someone who gets paid to write about City Hall -- you know, the press release "journalists" -- could spend five minutes to write a public records request. No, I guess they're too busy addressing more important matters, like picking on the governor for having a body that looks diffferent at age 60 than it did at age 20.

Doug McIntyre was hilarious this morning. Villaraigosa can't take care of his own city now he wants to run the country. He said Villariagosa has a lot of ideas but hasn't done anything.
He goes into 7 Eleven stores because he likes to see himself in their cameras.
He proposes a lot of things but doesn't know how to do make them work.
How embarrassing for our midget mayor's photo of sleeping to be on blogs and papers throughout our nation!!!

Doug was hilarious, as usual. I liked the line about Villaraigosa searching for stop-light cameras, too.
And why is Doug the only one in the media in this town pointing out the insanity of L.A.'s mayor unveiling a national education plan? Villaraigosa doesn't even have authority over schools in this town, and he's spending his time telling the NATION what do to?!
Press release journalism is a disgrace. Shame on the local papers, TV stations and radio stations.

Shame on Jose. Didn't someone post that the dumb clowncil would do this? Instead of dealing with the issues of our city they are supporting illegals who get free services on our dime.
...The governor’s budget proposal would cut $465 million from the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) Program; a program which provides cash assistance and services to low-income families with children. According to Huizar, the cuts would eliminate a critical safety net for tens of thousands of children whose parents are undocumented or do not meet federal work requirements.
...Huizar introduced a Resolution calling for the Los Angeles City Council to formally oppose the proposed cuts in the governor’s 2007- 08 State Budget. Council President Eric Garcetti seconded the Council Resolution.
Hey, Jose CD14 has more gangs then any other part of city. Is it too much to ask you take care of that first then help the illegals??

I am SOOOOOOO SICK of this mental Mexican midget running his skinny legs off in Washington and elsewhere!!!!!
He is an absolute EMBARASSMENT to this city and country! The sad thing is that the media keeps perpetrating his agenda!!!
When are these communist "politicians" going to admit that the Mestizo, illiterate, itinerant illegals and illegitimate anchor babies ARE UNEDUCATABLE??????
When are the citizens of CA going to revolt and stop paying taxes????
We are forced to build billions of dollars worth of schools FOR THE MEXICANS ONLY!
White kids are not going to public schools in large numbers! We have our kids in private schools or homeschooling (as a last resort). FAMILIES ARE MOVING OUT OF LA TO FIND GOOD SCHOOLS! NO ONE IS MOVING HERE BECAUSE OF THE TAXES AND SCHOOLS!!!!
And, btw, Hillary would be committing political suicide if she was stupid enough to put Mecha Boy on her ticket! He is the KISS OF DEATH!!!
Someone (WE) have to stop this egomaniacal, arrogant, boot licking, Mexican Marxist! He is the most dangerous person in the US! WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED, ASSAULTED, INSULTED!

Re: cutting $465 million from the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) Program
That sounds like a good start. But how about abolishing the program altogether? Did anyone ever acheive greatness as a result of one of this "programs" for "children?"
When I was growing up, back in the stone age, you know how we got work opportunities and learned about responsibility? We got REAL jobs that REAL people were willing to pay us to do.
We went door to door offering to mow lawns. We worked bagging groceries and bussing tables. As a teenager, I not only had those jobs, but also worked at a bike shop, selling and repairing bicycles; worked at restaurants, cooking, plating, bussing tables, peeling shrimp, washing dishes and, eventually, waiting tables; worked at a motel, cleaning up rooms; and various other jobs.
If you want to help kids, first, make their neighborhoods and schools safe; second, give their teachers the power to eject juvenile delinquents from class; and third, make classes small enough for them to learn.

Don't count out Antonio making a late entrance into the Democratic primary. Obviously not to win but to possibly pick up some cash and advance a shot at being a VP nominee.
Plans are in the works.

If the Democrats think they will sway middle class America with Villaraigosa, they are SADLY mistaken. He can get away with his ethnocentric, pro-Mexican, pro-illegal alien shenanigans in LA, but not in other regions.
Once the spotlight gets hotter and real journalists and non-traditional media question his mediocre academic achievements and record, his lack of personal and professional (non-political) achievements, his history of coddling gangbangers, his sordid personal history, his manic performance encouraging lawlessness to 500,000 illegal aliens in downtown (the rally that disgusted legal, taxpaying citizens all over the country), his broken promises, and his do-nothing record in LA -- voters will become aware, and will not vote for a ticket associated with such a candidate.
BTW Walter, regarding college, in addition to the grants, loans etc. that you mention, now there are also 529 plans that are great college and educational savings vehicles. Responsible people should educate themselves about this and start saving NOW.

The problem with Antonio raising the bar, to better prepare LAUSD students for college is this:
The raised standard will only end up increasing the drop-out rate, when even more kids are not able to meet the higher standards.
The kids of LAUSD in the mayor's jurisdiction is NO WHERE NEAR READY TO RAISE THE ACHIEVEMENT BAR.
Just make sure they can read and right english, have good computer skills, analytical skills. Focus your concentration of effort there.
So yeah, saying, "More college prep" SOUNDS good in politician talk. But think about it, RAISING the standards when they already are not meeting them.
And Bill O'Rielly wants to know, "What say you?"

Zuma,
I know damn well you mispelled write on purpose, or is it wright, or is it rite? God only knows

With $104 billion we could build a good wall along the southern border. That would go much further toward improving the education of our kids than throwing money at incapable students.
Anonymous said:
Throwing money at incapable students will mean more students who'll graduate from unaccredited law schools and fail the bar four out of four times.

So the LA fishwrap writes an article that Gov Arnie is aging. Brilliant. Probably the silliest use of newsprint since that goofball wrote an oped a few years ago that Pres Bush has some weird addiction to working out and complained that he was too fit. I guess if he was a a mess like the drunken bloated senator from Massachusettts that would be OK.
Walter Moore said:
LOL. You guys are good! This neighborhood is definitely improving.
Speaking of the new educational "plan," I'm going to post a flyer I got today when I went to collect my final LAUSD paychecks. You will love it.
Walter Moore said:
Okay, here you go. Take a look at the flyer I received today on all the aid available for would-be college students, regardless of GRADES and "IMMIGRATION STATUS." Click here.

We should deport illegal aliens - -students or otherwise -- not reward them with "free cash for college." They should get in line, pay their dues, and wait their turn like law-abiding, responsible immigrants.

Everyone I know on CALWorks are illegals. I'm glad Arnold is cleaning it up. But Metro Sexual Fabian and Antonio think we should pick up the tab for those cuts. The media didn't really do that story. People who have been on welfare for 5 yrs. are complaining they still need more time to find a good job. Sounds like clowncil who haven't done their jobs but need 4 more years to finish. I wish ONE reporter with guts would ask Antonio what the hell he's done since being in office. Would love to hear that answer.

Another funny story from the joke of a country called Mexico:
TIJUANA, Mexico -- The police department has issued about 60 slingshots to officers in the violent border city of Tijuana, where soldiers confiscated police weapons two weeks ago on allegations of collusion with drug traffickers.
Municipal police spokesman Fernando Bojorquez said Monday that the slingshots, along with bags of ballbearings, were given to officers patrolling areas of the city visited by tourists.

Here's my solution to this god damned school fiasco.
LAUSD has a 7B budget. If you divide the 7B amongst the 800 illiterate mexicans, it comes out to 87,500 per mexican.
Just give 'em the money and kick their asses out of this country! Pay 'em to leave! And then close down the effing government schools!

Doug McIntyre is not the ONLY one going after Mecha Boy. KEVIN JAMES IS UNRELENTING! Listen to Kevin every week nite on KFI from 1:00a.m to 5:00 a.m. I'm losing sleep but it's worth it!
On another note, the "sleeping" at the State of the Union speech was a STUNT! The Dems did it to embarrass Bush!
Plans are afoot to recall MechaBoy. The real citizens are beyond irate! He has failed his fiduciary duty to this city and has refused to protect it's citizens against gang warfare.
MechaBoy is embedded with Pelosi, Reid, and Hillary. He is in Washington more than LA. When the national spotlight shines on him, it's going to be curtains for MechaBoy.
BTW, where is his wife??? My guess is that she is in the Witness Protection Program!!!
