BREAKING NEWS: Judge pushes Proposition R court hearing date to April
Prop R, the controversial proposition which extended the term limits for Los Angeles City Council members was set to be heard by Judge Dzintra Janavas on January 25, 2007.
Judge Janavas has just rescheduled the hearing date to April 11, 2007. The department is booked so heavily that the hearing, according to the Judge, needed to be rescheduled.
The City Attorney is considering joining Attorney Candice E. Jackson in requesting a date sooner than April 11th due to the public importance of the issue.
This date change continues to bring political intrigue to issues surrounding Prop R and the term limit extension. The current date is now after the March 2007 election.
City Council candidate Richard Alarcon who is running for LA City Council District 7 as a result of the extension could be limited in his term on the council, should he be elected and the Hernandez & Hayes legal challenge sets aside the proposition and the third term provision.
In another major development, the legal challenge is about to take on a new profile, with the ability of the Hernandez-Hayes legal Team to present a formidable and sustainable legal fight.
Discussions are now taking place with a major legal advocacy group who contacted Hernandez and expressed a strong interest in joining the challenge. As soon as the details are firmed up, an announcement will be issued and press conference held.
Hernandez and Hayes remain firm in their determination to see the legal challenge to its conclusion.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has requested approval for the designation of one (1) exempt position, pursuant to Charter Section 1001 (b), for employment of persons
"to provide management services or render professional, scientific or expert services of an exceptional character."
This position is responsible for conducting intensive reviews of officer-involved shootings as well as injuries and deaths related to law enforcement activity. The Special Investigator Ii will also ensure reports of these incidences, which are prepared by LAPD employees, are complete and accurate.

Sounds almost like the same thing that happened with Prop. R before the November election.
Notwithstanding the critical time nature of the issue, the court put it over until AFTER THE ELECTION.
What a great judicial system we have (NOT!).
Can you imagine what this city will be like if these morons get to stay longer? They can't even do their jobs now and say they need more time. I hope the media continues to criticize the underhanded way they placed Prop R on the ballot. And don't forget 226,000 people voted NO.
As much as I am sickened by the retards who voted FOR Measure R, I am concerned now that it will be overturned.
Those of us who live in CD 7 are pretty angry that we lost our candidates before the court ruling. Now if the court rules against Measure R, we will be stuck with Monica and how sad is that!
Why didn't Cindy and/or Felipe wait until the court hearing to drop out? They must know something we don't?
