Sunday Summary: Goldberg And "Surplus Property"
Only two articles seem noteworthy today -- then again, the beach is calling with its Siren Song. Both are from the Daily News. I've covered one, about immigration and "hate groups" in a separate posting (above).
The second is a profile of Jackie Goldberg, a termed-out Assembly Member who apparently wants Roy Roemer's job as Superintendent of the LAUSD. However, she mused, "Maybe I should go back to being a teacher - that was my best job and my favorite job by far." I'm guessing some of you out there would rather see her go back to teaching than take over the schools.
One Steve Frank, who, according to the article, apparently publishes some kind of conservative newsletter, had this to say about her: "Any opportunities to raise fees or business taxes, she voted for them. Anything to harm the businesses in her community and the whole city, she voted for it. She does not believe in the free market. She believes in the government market." (I'm not sure whether the Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled Frank as a "hate group," but since he advocates a free market and low taxes, he's probably at least on their "watch" list.)
Read all about it: http://dailynews.com/news/ci_4174875.
Also, I want you to do some research for me. The other day, I either saw a news story on TV or a tiny story in a newspaper to the effect that Villaraigosa planned, basically, to give the City of L.A.'s "surplus properties" -- as if there is such a thing -- to the LAPD to use for "affordable housing" for police officers. But I can't find anything like that on the internet today. Did any of you hear or read that?

How about if Hurricane goes out there and tries a real job. Not sure what's she qualified for, but I'd love to see her asking folks if they want fries with that!
Hurricane needs to learn where the money that funds her government boondoggles and lavish lifestyle comes from!

Anyone who is smart and actually studies what Jackie Goldberg has done in politics will realize that she has retained her integrity and continued to fight for the public that really needs assistance. Therefore, she is qualified to be a public official and servant. Can you name anyone from the current city clowncil who actually has integrity and performs their job as a public servant for the actual public???

Integrity....HAH!
Only someone attempting to deceive and cover up actual events would say Goldberg has integrity. Despite local media's attempts to bury the incident, many of us will never forget Goldberg caught on tape saying that the Dems ought to continue the budget impasse because it benefits them politically.
Thats factual truth there.

Go back to teaching. She can only wreck the educations of 30 students at a time instead of the whole 740,000 if she were the superintendent.
