Local "Ethnic Cleansing" Verdict: GUILTY
Tatoo selection can be more important in a criminal trial than jury selection.One rookie mistake is to have the slogan "43 Kills for Thrills" tattooed onto your head.
That very mistake helped convict Alejandro Martinez in federal court on Tuesday, along with three fellow members of "a Latino gang in Highland Park" charged with "unleashing a barrage of assaults and killings to push African Americans out of the predominantly Latino community in northeast Los Angeles."
Apparently the gang wasn't familiar with the parol board's opinion of the swastika that Charles Manson carved into his forehead.
Anyway, since this verdict proves, beyond a reasonable doubt, that we have ethnic cleansing taking place right here, right now, could City Hall please hire enough police immediately, or must we wait for a U.N. peace-keeping force?

Alejandro is the victim of white supremacists who gave him no choice but to murder his black brothers in the struggle for emancipation from the white power structure.
When Walter gets a clue as to how police officers are hired, and especially how long it takes, maybe he'll have a little credibility on this issue. Right now it's obvious he doesn't.
There's no magic wand, big fella. LAPD has been hiring every qualified officer they can get their hands on the last couple of years and they're still behind their preferred pace.
So cut the political grandstanding and sign up already.

Isn't the Avenues the same gang that killed those tourists who made a wrong turn like 15 years ago? They used to be a small few block gang, but now they, like every gang in the city have grown to span several miles.
I've been chased by them for some reason but my Honda outran their SUV packed with "vatos".

I am A "White Person", we all know that saying,"the oppressed will become the oppressor". Guess who they all learned from. We here in the U.S.A. have encouraged racism, and now we are acting surprized that minorities are reacting in the same fashion as we have reacted towards them. In this country minorities have made fortunes belonging to gangs, including Al Capone, and many, many others. Could it be a simulation of what many white European forefathers also did before Blacks, and Hispanics, Cubans, Russians, they all seem to be trying to do the same, to this day. This is all learned behavior.

Genocide has a long, long tradition, and is sometimes but not always based on race. For example: Rome vs. Carthage; Athens vs. . . . I've forgotten the island, but they did it to people on an island; Armenians and Turks; Hutus and Tutsis; Russians (Stalin) vs. Ukranians; Germans vs. Jews, Roma (aka Gypsies), homosexuals and handicapped; etc., etc.

Come on! Do you REALLY believe this City, which received $717 million MORE in tax revenues this year than it did last, is doing EVERYTHING it can to hire more police?
Running a few billboards locally does not constitute a full court press. If current recruiting efforts have proved inadequate, then we need to advertise in other cities and other states. We need to recruit people getting out of the armed forces. There is no legitimate excuse, in my opinion, for accepting hundreds of murders per year, year after year.
The Mayor has been in City Hall since 2003. He's been on TV about a gazillion times. Have you ever seen him urging people to sign up for the LAPD? Me, neither.
This is literally a matter of life and death. The highest priority of local government, in my opinion, is the safety of the citizens (and other residents).

Walter the reason LAPD can't hire or find as many recruits is because you have clowns on city council who have nothing better to do but whine and complain about "words" a chief states. They never support the officers and are constantly negative when speaking about them. Don't let that asshole Smith come out and say "we found money for more police." It only took 10 damn years to do it. To add insult to injury these same clowns give DWP a 14% pay raise and what do they give police officers who risk their lives? 10% that's right, they will get 3% per year as of July 1st. Other police departments are offering $20,000 more in salary to start so I'm not holding my breath that LAPD will get the officers they need as long as these clowns are in office.

...go to the LAPD recruiting website and you will see that the department already routinely tests in cities such as Detroit, Chicago, and San Diego where budgetary issues are forcing staff cuts. What's more, the Latina police officer in the recruitment posters is hot!

I used to admire the Jewish Community. I used to think of them as strong people who had surpassed all of the situations that life had thrown at them, and overcome without violence. Now, I have less hope. Sadly now they seem to have joined the violent crowd. As it turns out they seem to be just like everyone else. The end always justifys the means.

Yeah, I saw the "illegal" comments coming a mile away. I'm surprised it took you this long.
The Avenues gang, while small in comparison to gangs in South Central, is just about as old as the Mexican-American community in Highland Park. When I was in high school (class of '98), I remember most Avenues members being light-skinned Chicano types, none of which spoke an ounce of Spanish, save for Chicano slang like "vato" and "barrio."
I don't know if any illegal immigrants have infiltrated the Avenues, but I can tell you that they are a very tight-knit gang, and they are very selective of who they let join. That is in stark contrast to gangs like 18th Street, who are known to bully new members into the gang, and threatening them with murder if they deny membership.
Recruiting more cops is not going to do a dam thing. Presently, I work in the real south central portion of Los Angeles, south of the 10fwy and east of the 110. And lately, the need for self preservation is utmost, not from the criminals, but from the department itself. The Complaint system is so screwed that Internal Affairs is disguising themself to see if any officer does anything wrong. So I say to all of those that think we should be proactive, Why would I try to be proactive when IA is looking to bait you in? Guess all I am going to do is just answer radio calls and not even look down the street looking for an OBS arrest. Sorry LA, I have a mortgage to pay in Simi Valley.

This form of segregation has been happening for years in the Housing Projects of Los Angeles. In Ramona Gardens all the Black Families were chased out in the early seventies. Whenever housing would try tomove a black family in, rocks or fire bombs would send a "welcome message" One only has to look at the ongoing gang violence in the Newton Division which carry over to the jail system.

Someone (7:47 a.m.) made a crack to the effect that the gang members "learned" their behavior from the "white Europeans" who came to America. I then pointed out that genocide is much older than that; has happened all over the world; and does not always involve race.
Now, if you think that reciting the history of genocide is the same as condoning genocide, then you may want to see if a court will appoint a conservator to manage your affairs, because the wiring in your head is what psychiatrists call "insane in the membrane."

Maybe I left my sense of humor in my other shirt, but it doesn't seem that funny to me; it's a crybaby labelled "Bratton," holding a pillow labelled "criticism."
If other departments are offering more money, than of course we won't be able to attract more talent. The basic rule of thumb when hiring is: if you're not filling the position, you're not offering enough.
There is no higher priority than making every street in every neighborhood safe. The budget process should START by allocating enough money to hire and equip enough police. The next step is the fire department. The next step is street maintenance.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs should be about 939 in the prioritization process. I guess that comes to mind because of the report that the City is spending several million dollars to restore an old mural. Hey, I support historic art as much as the next guy, but let's make it safe for kids to go to school first, shall we?

One of the worst things about this is that there has not been one PEEP of comment from the so-called Latino leaders and community about this. If it was the other way around many non-blacks would be barking about how every moderately-known Black person should be publicly denouncing the actions of the gang-members. But the Latinos get to sit back and be hush – eager to uphold the image of the noble, angelic, compliant, eager-to-please Latino who scrubs toilets with dignity. So much for Latinos calling out their own “bad apples” as a previous poster suggested. BTW, to that poster: OJ was acquitted therefore he is not a felon.
