City Council Misleading Voters Re Term Limit Ballot
Have you seen the formal name of the ballot measure to let City Council Members hold office for 12 years rather than eight?It's called the "City Government Responsibility, Lobbying and Ethics Reform Act.”
And what an apt name, after all, because it's all about government responsibility, lobbying and ethics, isn't it? Sure, it effectively repeals term limits, but that's hardly worth mentioning.
Then again, if a business labeled its products in this fashion, consumers would sue for fraud.
The goal, obviously, is to mislead the harried voter into thinking he's supporting ethics reform. Caveat emptor.
What do you suppose they'll call the proposed $1 billion subsidy for developers? Probably the "Infant Protection, and Canes for the Blind Act."

Moore...or maybe you need to read that it gets rid of the pay-to-play tactics of City Hall and only gives one more term to councilpersons...hardly a "repeal" of term-limits.

Word is spreading like wildfire citywide to tell everyone HELL NO do we want these idiots longer in office. They have shown what a bunch of clowns and idiots they are by the dumb things they waste our tax payer dollars on. What a bunch of slimy sneaky assholes.

Oh yeah, giving them 12 years instead of eight isn't a repeal at all. Yeah, it'll end pay to play. This law will transform them into uncorruptible statesmen.
Just one question: what flavor is that Kool-Aid, anyway?
Oh, and one more: why combine the pay-to-play reform with the eight-years-into-12? Is it the same reason that we get "Clean Money" only if we agree to yet another tax hike?

The measure's backers deliberately set this up to try to bury the term limits change way down in the text. So maybe the public they assume to be so stupid would not see it!?

Don't like the elected officials? Then go out and vote! Think you got ripped off because a majority who voted disagreed with you? Then convince your neighbors to vote.
Uh, I didn't make the "Hell no" comment, so unless there are other former mayoral candidates blogging here, you appear to be a bit confused. I don't post anonymously. And perhaps if you had the courage of your convictions, you wouldn't either.
Why am I not surprised these guys are trying to sneak this through on the ballot. I've let everyone I know about the 4 year extension these clowns are looking for and every response has been "Hell No!" No one wants this except the political puppets on City Council. I cannot wait to make them unemployed.
If you really, seriously want to see change in Los Angeles, then VOTE NO and get these idiots out of office!
