The Decline and Fall of Imperial LA?
I am confident that all Samistas have read their Gibbon and know that there was a long period of time when rule of the Holy Roman Empire was divided between Rome and Constantinople, and then even extended into the barbaric provinces themselves.
Thus it is with ominous foreboding that I am oblige to advise you of the following:
In an attempt to manage the two most notable poles of the Empire of the Angels, the City Council has agreed to meet one time a month at Van Nuys City Hall, commencing Friday, April 7.

Rome tried in the third century to control its increasingly unwieldy and threatened empire by instituting a dynarchy with Constantinople, then later formed a tetrarchy with four farflung capitals, all on the fringe of the barbaric hordes.
Obviously it didn't ultimately succeed: the last Roman Emperor was deposed in 476.
I can see a day when City Council will meet Fridays the farflung, barbaric provinces of Sunland-Tujunga, San Pedro, Boyle Heights, and Venice, and the once-unifying majesty of an Imperial downtown Los Angeles, like Rome in the fifth century, becomes a mere historic curio.
The dynarchs and the tetrarchs, alas, did not have the advantage of a $150,000 robotic video system to assure constant contact between province and Rome. We can only imagine the fuse this expenditure would have blown in Ernani Bernardi's mind.

In the current example, barbaric hordes = Santa Clarita, Calabasas, the South Bay

No, the culprit was a campaign of lies and inuendos orchestrated by Parke Skelton.
Los Angeles is in major trouble. The schools, even after a 19 billion spending spree are still in big trouble. Im not sure why Bratton is bragging that this is a safe city when I hear stories from everyone, at least those East of the 405, about being a victim of crime. The jobs that are being created are not high paying ones, the transportation system is alot worse than it was even 5 years ago. There is not alot of money in the city coffers t9o do too much, and the County has suffered from terrible, or lack of, serious leadership to deal with these issues. Yvonee Burke is just l;ike most of LAs' black leadership-if not directly on the take, then their kids are. Say hello to maxine waters.
I like the mayors energy and committment but he doesnt have the tools or resources to deal with thse problems.
