Gossip Site?
The folks at LA Observed have officially named us an "Anti-Villaraigosa" gossip site. This is amusing coming from a pro-Hahn snooty site.
True, we've taken Tony Villar to task and question his soundness to be Mayor. However, we've also posted many of his press releases and given him his due, when due. In regards to Cynthia Ruiz, we posted several articles about her including one in support of her when she was dumped by Mayor Hahn from the Board of Public Works due to her pro-Tony Villar leanings.
LA Observed has tried to hide their bias in favor of Mayor Hahn for some time, and if they wish to support the poopster, more power to them. But honestly, an Anti-Villaraigosa site? Our real target all along has been this. Maybe that is what LA Observed wants you to forget?
We really hate taking shots at LA Observed. Its the sort of website you curl up with on a Sunday morning while sipping a latte. But you got to do what you got to do.

Considering some of the milk-toast endorsements candidates have been getting from local papers, etc., you might actually get some takers for that this time around. Scrap the mayor's position, have the City Council his a professional city manager, and just name a "honorary" mayor too cut ribbons and such.
From "Dump Hahn" to "Recall Villaraigosa" - well done, Mayor Sam. Who visits LA Observed anymore, anyway?

That must mean they actually check their sources. As the official site of the hoi polloi, Mayor Sam says whatever he damn well pleases -- with no accountability and no need to even approximate reality.

I bet LAObserved doesn't get nearly as many hits as Mayor Sam. They're just jealous. I bet they take a sneak peak whenever they can to make sure they're up on the news.
I think there is disconent among about 13 people in CD 14 as it relates to AV. The recall is a farce perpetrated by a people who have too much time on their hands.
Please state your source and provide backup information as to this claim. This same or similar information has been stated here repeatedly, and requests for proof of it have gone unanswered even more times. The original posters of this unsubstantiated claim have since left the blog out of sheer embarrassment. Provide proof!

Whoever wrote that is 100% correct. Always happy to let folks know when they are right. More excited to hear that Bob called for the resignations of Contreras, Butcher and Rascon tonights debate should be fun. It's always fun to trek to Eagle Rock to watch a candidate blast Gotti-like Hahn.

The previous poster 2:29pm wishes it was only 13 people. Its more like over 130 people in CD14. All you have to do is look at ADV's website and see that NOT ONE Latino community leader is listed. NOT ONE Latino organization in his entire CD14. Too me that says it all. He doesn't have support in his own district. People need to remember he wrote a letter for a drug dealer and then had the nerve to TAKE MONEY FROM THE FAMILY. He took money from the CASINOS and ENRON.
The Recall Committee will be issuing a statement this week with the number of signatures so far gathered. It is considerably more than 13.
You "think" -- here's what I "know." In active participation in community events in CD14 for the past two years, I am unable to find anyone who is happy with the constituent service provided by Antonio Villaraigosa or his staff. This includes many people who voted for him in 2001, 2003, and a number who still intend to vote for him in 2005, their discontent notwithstanding. I speak to at least "13 people" each and every day, and have for many months and can find only lackluster support, if any. No one has offered any proof here that there is not widespread discontent in CD14. No one from that district defends him here. His staunchest supporters here have been people from other districts. Few if any district people even post support messages on the candidiate's own blog site. No prominent civic leaders from that district has been listed on that site either, and significant activist groups there (Eastside Democrats), still remain silent.
MEAT, thank you for agreeing that the anti Villaraigosa sentiment in the 14th District is real. Maybe you are not so bad after all.

If true (and numbers from this source never are), Antonio is slipping, yes? Add the 2nd and 3rd place numbers together, and that's what you have to realize is already in strong OPPOSITION to a Villaraigosa mayoral candididacy - even at this early stage - 38 percent, minimum. Which is more realistic to believe. That the extreme left-wing Villaraigosa will more than double his votes in a runoff -- or that whichever opponent he faces will make up the much smaller difference?
Villaraigosa - primary 2001; 30%
Villaraigosa - general 2001; 45%
(Increase of 50 percent only).
Dream on.
I don't know if Villaraigosa is slipping. Meat was talking about the upcoming LA Times poll not the results of the last election. Don't get too excited yet. We have a week to go.

I think it’s an accurate assessment to say that this site is anti-Villaraigosa. And I’m not just speaking about the abundance of "anonymous" commenters that leave bogus lies/misconceptions about Antonio. Even if you take this site at face value, you still get the same anti-Villaraigosa sentiment. I mean, they don’t even refer to him by is REAL name. And all they could come up with is ONE positive post about Antonio' people? Give me a break
Girth... if people are posting anonymous, bogus lies, and miconceptions about ADV here, PLEASE do us all a huge favor and disprove them with your own clarion facts. If you know these things to be untrue, and can prove them wrong, you owe it to your candidate and all truth-loving bloggers to correct these lies in force. None of his other defenders seem to be able to dispute them -- even given the free space generously by Mayor Sam and Co. -- except to say, with some regularity that they're being posted by "haters" - "crazies" - "morons" - and conspracy freaks (and those are the nicer "rebuttals." Those seem a bit lacking, in any case, don't you think? Tony V. deserves better... he deserves a more concrete defense. Please help him here - since you obviously have the facts.
And look around, too. The blog-owners have silly, taunting, even insulting names for ALL the candidates - not just "Tony Villar" -- just ask Mayor Poopy, BobZilla, Bitter Bernie ands Wacko Walter.
Comparing numbers across differing polls with differing methodologies is not always a good idea. If you are looking for movement, compare to the same poll in an earlier period.
I don't know what the numbers will be, but compare it to the 2/5 Times poll: JH 21; AV 20; BH 12.
Hey we haven't had a Bitter Bernie story in awhile Mayor.
Those Times numbers, then, would indicate that Hahn is basically unchanged in 3 weeks (undecideds NOT joining, but not moving away from him either), Villaraigosa has grown by only 25 percent (from 20 to 25; slower than his growth pattern at this stage four years ago), and Hertzberg has the serious momentum, growing by 50 percent in the same 3 weeks (from 12 to 18). This despite Hahn and Villaraigosa's much larger media buys. If these trends continue, assuming the numbers are close and given the margin of error, Hertzberg could possibly surpass Villaraigosa by March 8, and the rate of undecided's becoming "decideds" ramps up considerably.
Wow! If Bob had gone from 1% to 2% (100% growth!) he'll really be in the catbird seat now!

Mayor Sam don't let that pretensious Kevin Roderick push you around. He's more concerned with Hilary Swank's press conference than that of what's up with the Mayor's race. Good thing the Oscars weren't a week later!
In the meantime, Roderick has managed to round up the last of the Negro endorsements for Mayor Hahn. Last gasp a brother might say.

My brother, Jim Hahn has done nothing for us coloreds as he has been heard to call us.
Can you hook a brother up? Did you see the Mayor at Tollivers trying to strut his stuff like a jive negro? Even Kenny Hahn didn't do that crap. The Mayor is there - going to Ethel - "Miss Ethel can you hook a brother up?"
