Mayor Sam is going to be off on a junket for the next few days inspecting the culture of a small, midwestern state (can't say more than that). I am sure Chief Parker will keep you posted with new happenings around Los Angle-a-leez. Maybe one of these days that antique Frank Shaw will get back here with some more scandals. But I don't need to burden you with my problems. Happy Day!

Out of all Hahn's "accomplishments", why isn't the $11.5+++ expansion / union payback of L.A. Int'l Airport at the top of the list??
Perhaps because L.A. County, El Segundo, Culver City, Inglewood and some group called A.R.S.A.C. are going to sue and make Hahn "do over" the L.A.X. Master Plan from the very beginning?? Funny how there is never time to do something right the first time, yet there is always time to do it over??
Hahn's site looks pretty good. Much better than I thought it would be. But what about Antonio's photo gallery? Out of 16 pics. six are of him posing alone. Give me a break. What an ego!
Here's what Betty Pleasant said about Jim Hahn in her Soul Vine article today:
Councilman Jack Weiss and former Assistant Deputy Mayor Doug Boxer endorsed Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa for mayor, and they sent a letter Tuesday to members of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party urging the party’s endorsement of Antonio. They reminded the party members of how, four years ago, then mayoral candidate Jim Hahn — in the manner of an ill-tempered 2-year-old denied a piece of candy — trashed the Democratic Party after he failed to win its endorsement for mayor. Hahn sent out a mailer targeted to Republicans that branded the Democratic Party as “a liberal special interest group,” that attacked Sen. Barbara Boxer for supporting Antonio in that mayoral race, and which featured on its cover a grainy picture of Antonio in front of the Watts Towers! Hahn is a Democrat and a nasty piece of work.
Here's what Eliseo Villanueva said about Antonio Villaraigosa this week in a statement issued by his recall group:
"Antonio Villaraigosa has ignored us since he got into office and it doesn't surprise me he's ignoring us again. It's unfortunate that Antonio only shows up at events when he's promoting himself or a cause outside the 14th district. He's been away out of the state more than 66 days since he was elected (campaigning for John Kerry) and now he is away from the district campaigning for mayor. He never intended to keep his promise to serve the full 4-year term as our councilmember and snubbing us just proves the point. He is an absentee councilmember and only had his own ambition in mind when he moved into the 14th. district to take on the sitting councilmember. Unfortunately it is not news when a politician breaks his promise but this year we hope a broken promise will break a politician."
And read Robert Greene in today's LA Weekly when he asks Villaraigosa. "Can we count on you. this time, to commit to a full term as mayor, AFTER BREAKING YOUR VOW NOT TO RUN."
Hahn's site:
Pretty generic, like Villaraigosa (get a blog, guys!). His write a letter to the editor section is great, though, and unique among the sites. I bet pro and anti Hahn folks will use that useful list. His accomplishments stuff is definitely the meatiest (no pun intended). It sure helps to be the mayor. Say what you will and take away some things that are exaggerations, but I was frankly impressed by a lot of it. Even if I ain't gonna vote for the guy.
I found this so funny I couldn't stop laughing. This is what Tony said to the press today....A clean environment is the foundation of a livable community. This is the councilman of a district that has more gangs citywide and he thinks picking up a broom and watering down some sidewalks is what people want in their community. He has just proven he doesn't have a CLUE.
Those gangs didn't pop up in CD14 after AV was elected nor in any other district. Let's face it, Hahn FAILED in his promise to get more cops on the street, spent more time lining Fleishman Hillard's pockets than he did ridding our city of crime. Whether AV wins or anyone else for that matter, it'll be far better than the incompetent and lackluster mayor we now have. And Eliseo Villanueva must be one of those pathetic Pacheco followers. Wonder if he ever got a kick-back from that community money Pacheco used for his campaign? Get over it!
Hey buddy when you create livable communities you create an environment where gangs cannot breed. Unfortunately, we don't have enough cops to sweep the scum off the street and into jail. At least Villaraigosa is trying to come up with something. Maybe you live in some nice area of Porter Ranch or West LA. East LA is tad bit different if you've noticed.
In any case, isn't this forum supposed to be about Mayor Hahn's new website. How about some more content analysis. It's a decent website, but that picture of him forcing a smile sure does scare me.
But the point is Antonio said he would do better than Pacheco, and he hasn't. These accusations are not very nice, boys. Recall getting to you.

Out of all the mayoral contenders, I am not sure which is the more evil. AV is about as dirty and corrupt, (maybe even more corrupt) than Hahn. No, actually let me correct that, he is definately worse than Hahn. The guy is a low down snake in the grass. (and that was me being nice) I am sure when the time is right, the goods on him will be unleashed. Now Hahn, well with him comes more of the same. The most corrupt administration in recent memory. Hertzberg, he needs to get himself a new issue. Alarcon, hmmmm not sure yet but he TALKS good. Parks, this jackass needs to just resign. It's official, we're screwed. Walter Moore... ummmmmmmm NO.

Yes, did i hear you correctly??? Antonio is corrupt right? So the "goods" are going to come out on him right? So i suppose the goods weren't unleashed on him during his campaign against Bill Mabie and Speaker Brown made it a priority to squash Antonio with all his might. Perhaps Speaker Brown didn't use all of his powers at his diposal, but i think Don Perata did (now Senate Pres Pro Tem) when he ran for speaker against Antonio. Yet, somehow Antonio still prevailed, perhaps the "goods" were used again during the first Mayor's race, wait those weren't goods, that was good ol fashion race-baiting at its worst. Maybe the "goods" you are speaking of occured during this last city council race, i mean if they are the "goods" then folks shouldn't be voting for this guy or any candidate, right? Hmmm lets remember what happened, oh yeah Nick got his brown little butt handed to him by a landslide. Maybe nick was looking in the wrong bag for the "goods" or maybe he didn't have your phone number to call you and ask you what the "goods" were, because apparently all he had were the "bads".
SOooo corrupt is Antonio, he created a legacy where little kids now have healthcare, a legacy of open space and parkland that didn't exist before all across the state. ( cause we all know thats the calling card of a corrupt politician, a park)

Whatever you think of Hahn MEAT, his website in not lame. And viewing your posts, you're no better than the idiots who say senseless things about Antonio. In fact, I often think they are written by your friends so you can easily swat them. I ain't impressed yet, MEAT. I'm waiting for you to show some real insight, because at the moment it's like you are just feeding lines from Antonios's consultants.
MEAT hit it right on the spot. You're not going to see a bunch of flies unless if you have rotten food or a big pile of shit somewhere, and you're not going to see all those criminal investigations around Hahn unless he has something foul to him.
I guess all these political superpowers who have risen to the top by working their asses off to put down their political opposition by any means just didn't have enough on Antonio like these anonymous bloggers. I guess we'll all know soon enough how this rag-tag operation will fail badly and then you will see Ted Hayes and Eliseo Villanueva go back to being supporters of Nader (just google it, you'll see it's true - that explains why they don't like Antonio's support for Kerry) and begin to realize that they must begin to do something productive with their lives.
Nobody is complaining that Villaraigosa supported Kerry. The complaint is that Antonio spent 66 days out of the state when his obligation was to the people of the the 14th district. rag tag we are, and proud of it. it's a simple issue to understand: do campaign promises mean anything? should politicians, any politician, not just antonio villaraigosa, be held accountable when they break a promise made in a campaign? we say, yes. if you don't mind politicians telling lies and breaking vows, don't sign the recall petition. but i have a sneaking feeling that if this was a recall against Hahn you would be supporting it. if we fail badly, we still will have fought a noble effort. what are you fighting for?
Hahn's website looks great. You can really tell the experienced ones from the school children. MEAT tell your boss to get a new tie. He's been wearing that same blue tie for 2 years. To that blogger who thinks putting trees in a community over run with gangs is more important, you need a reality check. You think trees will stop the gang violence? I live on the Eastside and gangs run the neighborhoods but Tony thinks trees will save the day. Can we all say Gray Davis? Tony is sounding more and more like him everyday.
To the rag tag operation: who are you? Are you Eliseo? Are you Robert Flores? Come out and give your "campaign" some credibility. Are you that scared about coming out that you are willing to come online and wage a recall campaign against a public person while remaining private? There were alot of Pacheo supporters who said they would work with Tony for the good of the community in Highland Park. How can you work with someone who's never in town and just doesn't care?
Now we know who's behind this "recall" crap . . . disgruntled Nick Pacheco supporters. Nick Pacheco wasn't too blunt with constituents, he was too corrupt for them. He stole taxpayer money by funneling it through a non-profit who gave it back to his campaign. His sorry ass got thrown out of office by the voters of CD 14 who saw right through his deception. Given he only served one term, failed in his bid for District Attorney, he's hoping to revive his dead political career by getting supporters to mount a recall so that he can run again. And like the previous bloggers who are talking about women who will come out against Villaraigosa, Pacheco's pathetic strategy was to attack Antonio's family, including his teenage daughter. That doesn't make Pacheco corrupt but political scum. And it seems his scummy cronies are up to the same old crap. Pathetic!!!

I heard that allegation during the last campaign between Villaraigosa and Pacheco. IF it was true THEN Pacheco would have been prosecuted by the DA. He wasn't and just because some political hack said it during a campaign doesn't make it true.
