Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Tuesday morning, the City Council's Education and Neighborhoods Committee will meet to discuss the future of interim Department of Neighborhood Empowerment general manager, Lisa Sarno. A number of neighborhood council leaders are calling for Sarno to be replaced. To see some of their concerns, head over to Mayor Sam 2.

The Daily News reports that efforts to raise funds for the Children's Museum located in the San Fernando Valley are falling flat. Most notably, donations from the Valley itself are few and far between.

Tuesday morning, the Los Angeles Ethics Commission will meet. Agenda includes a discussion of Proposition R and full public financing for city campaigns.

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and smiles broadly): The first shot of the battle over AB1381 has been fired in a court of law and Ms. Romero is now on the plank. Bugger Ms. Romero, she squawks like a wet hen. Scott Folsom, good show for getting the balls into the cannon and the hen out onto the plank. Mr. Folsom and the parent groups who brought this out into a court of law have the endorsement of the pirate crew, and our respect as well.

ROMERO IS ON THE PLANK. NUNEZ, CEDILLO, DELEON AND PADILLA WILL FOLLOW IN NOVEMBER. The rest walk in March.

The Clowncil members just proved by voting to extend Interim Lisa Sarno even after the hundreds of complaints she's received citywide from neighborhood councils they don't give a damn what people think. I was shocked at the bullshit comments they said about her. They have no fucking clue what a disaster she has been or they know and this was NC payback for going against Prop R. NOw NC's need to go after Vote NO Prop R and get rid of these gutless, no leadership pack of idiots and clowns who represent us.

And just what the hell was council supposed to do, 11:01 a.m. -- faced with the extension request from AV for the DONE GM spot? Kick it back? Demand he name someone else weeks from now, when he finally gets around to it? Put the NCs through another transition this year, with one more several months from now when the permanent GM is named?

You want to stick them with yet ANOTHER interim GM . . . for what, 3-4 months? Then they'll be sending the complaints in by the truckload.

Truth is, even though Sarno isn't GM material, some on the always-bitching NC-types put out an APB this week to get people to complain about Sarno -- by e-mail, or in person at this morning's committee meeting -- and only about a dozen came to testify, including the same 5-6 that ALWAYS show and complain (as they did under the LAST general manager).

Some of these think "NC" stands for "neighborhood complainer". AND, even fewer e-mails were in the public viewing material.

And not all those were negative, even. NOT hundreds, not even DOZENS of complaints.

You must count your "hundreds of complaints" the same way you're counting on NCs to be some huge tidal wave of opposition to Prop R. Add in the Easter Bunny, and you've got a trio of legends. Take it one the road as a singing group.

The GOOD news came with Rosendahl's pointed question of Sarno just before the vote.

"Are you an applicant for this position" (for a permanent appointment).

Answer: No! (said without hesitation)

It don't get any better than that, NC boys and girls -- and there's only ONE six-month extension available for the position, so it's April, at the latest.

So get your CVs in the pipeline, you sub-sub-1-percenter wannabes. Maybe you can use some of the outreach techniques that gets you those "stellar" fractions of 1 percent election turnouts in Valley-secession-land, to teach the "rest" of us how to be NCs.

The Unmitigated Gall: Mayor Villaraigosa Criticizes The Board Of Education For Not Being “Transparent.”

By Donna C

“Without transparency, there can be no accountability”, says Mayor Villaraigosa in his plea to supporters on his Excellence in LA Schools website–a statement that forces one to reexamine what it means to be “transparent.”

If to be transparent means to draft a bill in the State Legislature that usurps the authority a locally elected body and places it into the hands of a 26-member council and sell it to the public as a means to “cut the bureaucracy, increase accountability, [and] provide a central role for our city leaders”, then we have either redefined the definition of transparent or revealed the inadequate education of a few of our legislatures. I think they have confused the definition of transparent with its antonyms “unclear, ambiguous and vague.”

In a radio interview, Gloria Romero claims that critics of AB 1381 are ‘babbling on about power grab” and insists that AB 1381 is not a grab for power. In her words, the bill is an “opportunity …to turn around achievement and to boost the quality of education in LA Unified.”

If AB 1381 is not a “power grab” than how do you explain the instantaneous power the mayor of Los Angeles was given the morning Gov. Schwarzennegar signed the bill into law? Did he just eat too much spinach? And if it is an opportunity to boost the quality of education, then why doesn’t this bill explain how a 26 member Council of Mayors will be more effective at doing that, then a 6 member elected school board?

I agree with the mayor on one issue in this debate and that is that without transparency, there can be no accountability-but the burden of transparency falls on those responsible for bringing this bill to the fore. It is their responsibility to explain to the voters how commandeering their constitutional right is in the best interest of their children.

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen (bows low and removes hat):

Today has been an interesting day. There have been text messages flying back and forth between here and China, and those on the 4th floor are somewhat worried. Yes, the pirates are loose and among us. Sots, listen up. Two of the talons have been shown: Measure R and this lawsuit. Two talons remain in their sheath. What will it be next? Methinks the skeletons in a certain closet are about to break free and bust the myth that dead men don't tell tales. Or it could be the unexpected boldness of those who wait in the shadows. Yes, the pirates are among us and they’re coming for those who have sold their souls to the dark side.

ROMERO IS ON THE PLANK. NUNEZ, DELEON, CEDILLO , PADILLA AND SARNO ARE NEXT. The rest get theirs in March.

Oh, and Zuma lad...Armani becomes you.

MEMO TO THE "LA ANTONIA TIMES"

"HIS POLLONESS DOES ASIA" cont.

Props to "JOURNALIST BAQUET" for having the L.A. taxpayers assume the salary of "P.R.HOLE HELFAND", err SCRIBE DUKE HELFAND. On Day Two, guess who "POLLORAIGOSA" meets at the Regis Hotel? None other than that "BLUE BLOOD, COUNTRY CLUB REPUBLICAN, and by the way, FORMER SECRETARY OF STATE HENRY KISSINGER. Apparently, one of the business people in the mayor's group has ties with Kissinger. A meeting was arranged to discuss foreign policy issues (ie. HOW "HIS POLLONESS" should respond to "N.K. DEAR LEADER UPSTAGING HIM ON HIS TOUR".)
Later "HIS POLLONESS" did a speech in front of a premier school He got a chance to speak the native language(LESSONS BY MARCOS???).
THOUGHT TO PONDER, what makes "HIS POLLONESS" an expert on education when he can't write a "ABOVE THE LAW" education bill? TOUR CONTINUES.....

What assinine bullshit. This yokel pops up AFTER things are announced and keeps trying to say "I told you 'something' was going to happen, and NOW it's coming true."

I'm a "seer" too -- Something ELSE will happen this week. Just WAIT and see! AND, I predict there will be major earthquake in SoCal . . . (sometime in the next 500 years).

And, yes, your BOLD prediction that Sarno walks the plank is BOUND to be true (retard), since SHE said yesterday at council she is NOT a candidate for the permanent GM position.

If "I don't want the job" means walking the plank, then, GEE, I guess you're a fucking prophet, after all.

(Plus, Zuma Dog was wearing a dirty t-shirt yesterday). Does Armani make those?

Maybe you meant the "Salvation Armani"??

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat):

I take being called asinine with a grain of salt, especially since asinine was spelled incorrectly. As for Mr. Dogg, his showing up in a dirty shirt was why I made the comment, savvy? Stupid sot. Methinks you have your skivvies hitched a bit too high. Cuts off circulation to the brain. And Ms. Sarno indeed needs to be on the plank for reasons previously stated. But then again, when the circulation is cut off to the brain it causes one’s vision to go blurry.

Here’s another prediction for you, and that is that the deposition list for a certain lawsuit that Villabarbosa is a named defendant in will be a most interesting one. So will the answers to Form Interrogatory question 17.1. Insufficient evidence isn’t going to play well, and objection will only add fuel to the fire. I would guess that the hunt is on to offer the sots involved something similar to witness protection. Who needs to walk the plank when the hangman’s paper noose awaits? No, I am not a lawyer but have had my fair share of run-ins with the local magistrate enough to know the paperwork involved and a miasma when I see one. One of the crew, however, is a barrister.

ROMERO IS ON THE PLANK; CEDILLO, NUNEZ. PADILLA, DELEON AND SARNO ARE NOT TOO FAR BEHIND. The rest walk in March.
