The Weekly ...Yet another job of stellar reporting. The Weekly has been a right-wing Libertarian since it was taken over by the Phoenix-based New Times in a dirty deal that led to the demise of the Los Angeles version of that publication, which is where Jill Stewart came from. Saying that the Weekly is a left-wing publication is laughable in 2010. Maybe back in the '70 through the '90s...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-51941550242644172002010-12-29T13:12:55.308-08:002010-12-29T13:12:55.308-08:00"childish costumes"??
hmmm, that's ..."childish costumes"??

hmmm, that's just a BIT culturally insensitive don't you think?

Isn't it just possible that a native Mexicano, now an American elected official is celebrating his heritage and that of what are now the majority of Angelenos? . . . the same way politicos in Chicago drown their bratwurst with German beer at community festivals and Milwaukee Poles in office dance the Polka with their supporters?

This goes back to Cal Coolidge donning Indian headdresses on the reservation, and beyond.

It's a sign of respect for the "e pluribus" that's led to us being "unum".

Where does it say anywhere we have to forget our heritage -- any of us?

Tread lightly, or I may just bop you on the head with me shelale, and sic the leprechauns on ye!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-35312320375914500222010-12-29T09:54:25.977-08:002010-12-29T09:54:25.977-08:00I'm with 9:35.

I'm not commenting one way or the other about Huizar, who is a do-nothing, but a guy with a reality show may have some pizzazz, but ultimately, how does that help their economic fortunes?

I say people in this community are seen as simpletons by people who think that a costume or pizzazz is what it takes to get the job.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-75333905866420751512010-12-29T09:51:29.852-08:002010-12-29T09:51:29.852-08:00Forgot to post these articles

Mayor Sam gets hundreds of thousands of hits but I think Parke is counting the posts instead. LA Weekly also gets hundreds of thousands of hits so this story will have legs into the election. If Huizar has nothing to HIDE then why doesn't he simply show the transactions of where $1.5 million went. Huizar has given money (taxpayer) to his croonies and his office needs to be audited. Why hasn't Huizar kept his campaign promise to AUDIT all the corrupt Non Profits in CD14. Do you know over $1 BILLION dollars State and Federal go into Boyle Heights and it has more non profits then any area in the Nation. Where is that money being spent because if you look at the area its falling apart and looks like Tijuana.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-30840064052018774472010-12-29T09:35:43.771-08:002010-12-29T09:35:43.771-08:00Councilman Huizar OWNS CD-14 every day with that c...Councilman Huizar OWNS CD-14 every day with that costume. However, I would just like to clarify that I don't think any particular blog on my site has advocated "open borders". I believe that we need to have regulated ports of entry where people use passports, identification, etc. What I would like to see is a more equitable and efficient immigration system.

Thanks!adrianahttp://www.latinopoliticsblog.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-39902521047096479332010-12-29T09:10:11.564-08:002010-12-29T09:10:11.564-08:00So, let me get this straight...
