I think it’s great that he had such a humble start, and through student activism and government found a passion that he is GOOD at. I am INSPIRED by it— Not threatened by it, which is what some of the posters here sound like. I think his tenaciousness and experience would serve the district well. I really hope that jealousy and ugliness that I see on this blog does not prevail. That would be a shame and loss for the 40th.

One anonymous poster wrote “The last thing we need to see is his greasy ass annointed (sic) and having all those yicky YDs fawning all over him, not because they want to, but because they expect something.”

So what if Young Democrats are supporting him and want to see him win? You are talking about young people! Why in the world would you list this as a reason not to support Stuart? It says so much more about you and the opposition to Stuart’s candidacy than it does him. Young people, by definition have less power than older candidates. Maybe this poster would be more comfortable in political process that shuts out everyone who isn’t white, straight and over 40?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-1150682775968916352006-06-18T19:06:00.000-07:002006-06-18T19:06:00.000-07:00Laurette Healey thinks she's going to run for this...Laurette Healey thinks she's going to run for this seat as well. The last time he fucked around while cherny scooped up money and the oh so important hertzberg endorsement (lol). Waldman's problem is he personally has no money and his demeanor is of the fatso in the bar who everyone beats up.

I would never write him a check. I mean, the guy could not get something in the valley if he had 500 bucks.

and unlike brad sherman, waldman don't have much of a brain.

So he figures he will lock up those important endorsements now and kick ass.

What he fails to realize is what matters in these piddly shit primaries is three things

q factor (name reco - he has none)

Money (whoever runs against him will get more)

Looks (abbe land proved that you cannot get elected with a punim like that).

So, Waldman still has disadvantages. however, the job, which is a piece of shit - friggin 6 year term limit - hardly enough time to do the stealing some of his predecessors did.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-1150499503477199112006-06-16T16:11:00.000-07:002006-06-16T16:11:00.000-07:00I don't see Alger running for AD 40 at all. He also has no intention of running for CD 12 anytime soon.

But 3:41, he never "retracted" anything after the race. In fact he has pretty much gone underground. New phones, website down... in other words he hasn't spoken to anyone to retract a damn thing.

The bs about his loans, Shaw pulled the same exact crap... only more blatantly. You fools have been saying he is going to go to jail for months, more Casey Robinson BULLSHIT!

He NEVER claimed an endorsement he didn't have (had them all in writing)he polled 67% in a "forced recognition" poll which he even he said was iffy given it was done 2 days after he was on the front page of the paper and Lyn had done no mailers yet.

What killed Jim (by a whole 700 votes) was two things; extremely poor turnout and a pussy ass illegal hit piece. (Which Jim Hilfenhaus is swearing was done by Mitch Englander of Greig Smiths office)

The turnout more than the hit piece because when turnout is that poor all that shows up are the ideologues on the left and right. The union base etc.

Shaw also ran a disgusting attack campaign on Jim, his family etc. Jim ran a clean campaign on issues.

You guys can try and spin this like some crushing loss, but Alger was right about one thing... Shaw has NO intention of running a campaign or even advancing the democratic message in the 38th.

Cameron Smythe was measuring for new flooring in his Sacramento office on June 7th.

Everyone loses an election... Alger will be back. I am sure he has learned allot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-1150497703986709162006-06-16T15:41:00.000-07:002006-06-16T15:41:00.000-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-1150477978078126772006-06-16T10:12:00.000-07:002006-06-16T10:12:00.000-07:00Wendy Greuel is going to run. "I just
fell in love with politics," he said.

Waldman, 37, a lawyer who graduated from Cal State Northridge and Loyola Law
School, hails originally from Texas but came to the San Fernando Valley in
1978--where he established the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats--and has
spent the past three decades in California.

He worked on Bob Hertzberg's successful 1995 campaign for the Assembly, then
joined Hertzberg's staff as a field rep in the lawmaker's Los Angeles office
and worked for Hertzberg for nearly six years. He liked the rhythm of the
government, solving problems for constituents and dealing with the mix of
politics and policy that defines Capitol life.

Among his most memorable moments was helping a constituent, a woman who was
being terrorized by a violence-prone, imprisoned former boyfriend, get away
from the man and find a new life for her and her child in another state with
a new life and a new identity. "Every once in a while, I get a Christmas
card from her," he said.

Waldman joined Assemblyman Lloyd Levine's staff in December 2002, and he
serves as Levine's chief of staff, based in the lawmaker's 40th Assembly
District office.
And the future?

"I plan to run for my boss' seat in 2008," Waldman said.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8826939.post-1150429726716029502006-06-15T20:48:00.000-07:002006-06-15T20:48:00.000-07:00Stuart was one of the good guys, but then he start...Stuart was one of the good guys, but then he start playing hardball.
