Republicans are not a crucial voting block in Los Angeles elections. Kerry won Los Angeles County 65%-33% over an incumbent president (He won California 55%-44%). He probably won the city of LA by a lot more. Probably in the San Francisco range. Hahn didn't win last time because he had Republicans, he won because he had the African American vote. He also had a lot of non African American just because of his family name (Kenny Hahn was widely known). One more thing, Kerry's endorsement would not scare away moderate voters. You may not be aware of this but Kerry won moderate and independent voters in every single state he campaigned in. And he ran a LOUSY campaign (except for the debates). <BR/><BR/>I'm awaiting the following response.
