End of Fiscal Year 2013/2014 (and Vacation Getaway day) Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

Its time for the annual Getaway Celebration of another pending "New Fiscal New Year" and Birthday in the Great Outdoors. Thus after today, this blogger will be on hiatus until next Monday (with a bloggin surprise or two, between now and Monday).
Somewhere far away in the Great Outdoors.
Happy 2014/2015 Fiscal New Year Everyone!
As Public Department Heads engage in last minute stashing of unspent funds for the soon to be 2013/2014 Fiscal Year, this blogger preps for the annual getaway to celebrate another bloggin year of being. Thus before we depart for a soothing break from the political, cyber world, here are some topics for musing.
** Lincoln Heights residents are venting their anger over the latest CD 1 act of broken promises from the Office of City Clowncil Central Committee Member Gil "Broken Deal Cedillo", According to a source, negotiations over plans for a return of the Lincoln Park Fireworks Show, fell apart at the last minute when the Office of Clowncil Member "Broken Deal Cedillo", reneged on a promise to fund the show..........., and when "Broken Deal Cedillo" was confronted about this, he allegedly knew nothing.
** Activists within the membership of SEIU 99 are up in arms over what they see as a sell out by their leadership in regards to a new contract as noted below ..........
FYI Union Brothers and Sisters, SEIU 99 sold out it's members, please visit the website seiu99.org for the TA agreement, it's highlights, not the actual language. Spread the word to classified members. As a rank and file member I urge everyone to Vote No!!!
** Will someone find Michael "MEAT/Chief Parker" Trujillo a pacifier quick! It seems that MEAT has some issue with Mayor Garcetti setting up a new "Connected Non-Profit" to raise money for policy initiatives. Lil Mikey needs to reacquaint himself with his former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar's proclivities for "Pay to Play" with the likes of Million Tree LA and lets not forget all those free Laker tickets.
** With no apologies to Team Garcetti, but we must ponder whether the Mayor will have the "Political Cajones" to exploit the supposed loop hole in its agreement with IBEW/DWP "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo's" Joint Job Training and Safety Non-Profits

** Whoops!! We almost forgot to note the historic moment coming to CD 14 on Fourth of July as the first ever Medical Marijuana Farmers Market takes place in Boyle Heights. We are sure that the "Dear Charro, Princeton Graduate" will welcome this new growth business with a toke.

Your thoughts and Great Fourth of July to All ...............

"The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch" The Final Flat Line of Political Death Update?

As we enter the last weekend of June, this may well be the end for "The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch" as a final "Flat Line of Political Death" awaits the last tally of votes in Lake County.
** Monday Update: The political demise of "First Cousin John" may happen today, from the San Jose Mercury News.........
Things are looking good for Yee. She currently holds a lead of 861 votes -- 877,263 to 876,402 for Perez. And although Perez leads among Lake County votes counted so far, with 26 percent to Yee's 18.6 percent, if those same margins hold for the remaining uncounted ballots, he'll pick up a net of only 448 votes, leaving him 413 short.
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! The Final Flat Line is near.

Two First Cousins in better political times.
First Cousin John for Controller, are you still with us? First Cousin John? He's ...........
.............., flat-lining for good if Lake County does not produce the needed votes to overtake Betty Yee for second place.
Its the last Friday of June and as we near the end of the 2013/2014 Fiscal Year, the final demise of a First Cousin Political Duo who would rule "Greece on the Pacific" (aka the formerly Golden State), may be at hand.
With only Lake County having outstanding uncounted ballots as of the Secretary of State's last report, First Cousin John's quest to make the November Runoff is near its final flat line, pending a miracle. As of 9:46 A.M. the results denotes ........
Ashley Swearengin, 1,000,618 votes.
Betty Yee, 877,263 votes.
First Cousin John, 876,402 votes.
David Evans, 848,846 votes.
......, and as Ron Kaye notes in his most recent missive regarding the death of the latest Ethics Reform Bills in Sacramento, First Cousin John's chances are not good.
Assuming 2,500 of the remaining votes in Lake County go to Republicans then Perez would have to get nearly two-thirds of the rest to catch Yee and finish second, which is unlikely given the statewide vote and the fact that the county voted in favor of Proposition 8, the anti-gay marriage measure, despite a strong Democratic advantage in voter registration.
Thus, it would not be premature to start the search for a "Final Political Resting Place" (unless CD 14 voters would like "First Cousin John" to replace the "Dear Charro, Princeton Graduate" on the City Clowncil Central Committee in 2015, but I digress).

Maybe "First Cousin John's Ex" can reconcile the past by offering him the above as a fitting memorial to a former Sacramento Special Interest Bully/Icon?
"First Cousin John's" designated choice to replace him in the Assembly, Staffer (and LACCD Board of Trustees Member via Canoga Park) Miguel Santiago, may find it fitting to dedicate this Elton John Classic, to his soon to be former boss.
Once the final "Flat Line of Political Death" pronounces the demise of "The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign", we are sure that "First Cousin John's" Special Interest friends will welcome him to a lucrative "Lobbyist Afterlife".

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

The City Clowncil Central Committee is considering approval of allocations of Corporate Welfare (ie Tax Credits) for Hotel Developers in exchange for "Card Check Neutrality" for future workers.
Lying the foundation for the future Wilshire Grand Hotel was predicated on a City Clowncil Central Committee allocation of Corporate Welfare.
** Old habits are still a cause for consternation, especially when it come to Corporate Welfare at 200 Spring Street. The City Clowncil Central Committee is considering a new allocation of tax credits for hotel projects throughout the city in the hope of stimulating visitation. But in order to qualify for this latest round of Corporate Welfare, you must promise to make your site "Card Check Neutral" for workers.
** The City Clowncil Central Committee tomorrow will review and take action on the USC Health Science Campus Street Beautification Project which included at one time, building an extension of Norfolk Street through Hazard Park. But after united community opposition to the proposed Norfolk Street extension through the existing park land, USC moved the extension north onto its property and preserving the park in its current configuration.
The next step in preserving and investing in the park's sustainability, is to honor the historical, cultural heritage of Hazard Park, by seeking National Historical Designation in honor of late Latino Educator Sal Castro and the thousands of students who gather at the park in 1968 to demand Education Equality, as approved by the LA-32 Neighborhood Council.
Its time to honor Hazard Park's place in the battle for Educational Equality.
Approved Resolution of the LA-32Neighborhood Council which calls for National Historical Designation for Hazard Park.

"The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch", A Grim Saturday Flat Line Update

Its a grim Saturday as "The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch" latest update shows the former Assembly Speaker bid to make the November Runoff, flat-lining on return of Betty Yee-supporting Northern California votes.
A First Cousin Political Dynasty that will come to ahhhh, naught.
First Cousin John for Controller, are you still with us? Can you hear us First Cousin John? John? ------------
Can First Cousin John find any votes to shock his way out of this latest Flat-lining Episode? Not likely.
Its a day after the Summer Soltice Saturday as its appear that the November Runoff for the State of California Office of Controller, will be an all female match up. Since our last update, the First Cousin John 1,700 vote lead has turned into a 659 vote deficit as Betty Yee takes over the second spot.
 Ashley Swearengin, 1,000,285 votes.
Betty Yee, 876,670 votes.
First Cousin John, 876,011 votes.
David Evans, 848,338 votes.
The latest report from the Secretary of State Office on the estimated number of uncounted ballots, puts the number at 8,878, with the vast majority of them coming from Lake and Santa Cruz Counties. Thus, for First Cousin John's designated choice to replace him in the Assembly, Canoga Park (and LACCD Board of Trustees Member) Staffer Miguel Santiago, the grim thought of planning for a "final political good bye", is looking like reality.
Grim times for the latest Carpetbag Candidate for the 53rd Assembly District.

A F-ing TGIF Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine

Its a little before eight in the morning on a Friday and what does the Chief of Staff (Ana Guerrero) for the Mayor of the nation's Second Largest City post on Facebook? ........
¡Viva Garcetti Cabrones! ¿Que chingado is the big deal?
Hmmm, maybe that the Mayor Garcetti Administration wasted a whole week news cycle in reacting to a failure in F-ing choreographing an "Explicit Political Persona Makeover"?
Its Friday and someone is in seriously need of a power puff.
While the Brain Trust of the Mayor Garcetti Administration can take credit for stimulating a lively debate on the usage of vulgarity in redefining a Square Peg Political Persona (with the likes of Daily News Columnist/KABC Talk Radio Host Doug McIntyre and Downtown News Editor Jon Regardie musing contrary positions on the Rhodes Scholar's choreographed F-bomb), the fact that the "Chief of Puff" needs to go "Chingado" in an attempt to regain message control over a misguided exercise in political persona makeover, is a sure sign that someone needs to puff away this wasted political week.
** As opening arguments get underway in the Voter Fraud Trial of former Mr. and Mrs. CD 2/7 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Richard "The Zorro Marxist" AlarCON, Prosecutors are mulling over the thought of calling upon former CD 2 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Wendy "The Boss D'Arcy Rizzo Call Greuel" to testify about discussions between her and AlarCON, in changing the boundary lines, demarking CD 2 and 7, so that the AlarCON's CD 2 Sun Valley home would be place in CD 7.
** Close AlarCON friend CD 1 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Gil "Broken Deal" Cedillo, is facing a growing backlash over supposedly reneging on supporting segregated bike only lanes along Figueroa in Highland Park. Local Political Activists from the river bank in Lincoln Heights, to the hilltops of Mt. Washington are sharing stories on numerous broken promises/deals with Cedillo and staff.
** We ponder how City Attorney (and co-author in the Assembly, of the deadly AB-109 Prison Realignment Debacle), will respond to a Federal Judge striking down the law which made it illegal to live in your car within the City of Los Angeles. From Sylmar to the streets of Venice, the homeless, including thousands of supposed "Low Level, Non-Violent, Non-Revocable Parolees, will be able to pick the curbside of choice in their vehicle, and call it home.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Thursday

The retrial of former CD 2/7 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Richard "The Zorro Marxist" AlarCON and wife, begins today as the LA County District Attorney's Office of Public Integrity seeks a conviction on both for Voter Fraud.
The Booking Photos of former CD 2/7 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Richard "The Zorro Marxist" AlarCON and wife Flora Monte del Oca AlarCON.
Its Judgment Time, Part Two for the former CD 2/7 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Richard "The Zorro Marxist" AlarCON and wife.
Observers close to the AlarCON Family have notice in recent months that the former CD 2/7 Clowncil Central Committee Member, has lost weight and exhibited melancholy behavior (especially after losing his Michael Trujillo-consulted Assembly bid) as the days to his next appointed time of justice, ticked away to today.
** The weeks-long silence from CD 14 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Jose Huizar, regarding the fire bombings of African-American Families within the Ramona Gardens Housing Development, ended yesterday as the Princeton Graduate, with law enforcement officials, announced an $100,000 Reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
These payments, although long a dubious part of the developer-homeowner association relationship, are legal. Nobody is alleging wrongdoing. But they have become an issue in a fight over JMB Realty’s proposed 37-story Century City office building at Constellation Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars. Attorney Benjamin Reznik, who represents rival Century City property owner J.P. Morgan and the Beverlywood Homeowners Association, complained to the City Planning Commission of the conduct of four other homeowner groups who support the high rise.
He’s unhappy with JMB paying, as reported by the Los Angeles Times, $7.25 million to an organization, Friends of West L.A. for distribution to local civic institutions. Friends of West L.A. is composed of the Tract 7260 organization, California Country Club Homes Assn. Cheviot Hills Homeowners Assn. and Westwood Homeowners Assn. The associations have dropped their opposition to the project, angering homeowner groups that still oppose it.

......, meanwhile, the taxpayers are stuck with paying off the loan on a inflated-price land swindle.

** Lastly, Downtown News Editor and reigning "Scribe of Wit" Jon Regardie was channeling the poetic proclivities of the likes of the Princeton Graduate and his City Clowncil Central Committee Comrades as we excerpt below .........
Why Me?
You think ruling a fiefdom is easy?
Nay sir, nay ma’am.
You do not know my burden.
You do not understand the 14th.
You do not know what it is like
To have a $125 million streetcar
   Zoom up to $328 million.
You do not know what it is like
To have your car go boom-crash
   Into another car,
And to have the city attorney
   Settle the case for $185,000.
You do not know what it is like
   To back the wrong horse
   In the mayor’s race.
You do not know what it feels like
   To have the new mayor
   Hang out with Jay-Z
   And plan a giant concert
   In your council district.
You do not know what it is like
   To have a consensual relationship
   With Francine Godoy
   And to get sued
   Because of it.
Why me?
Yet, despite all of this,
You do not know what it is like
   To know that
You will still skate to a third term
In next March’s election.
Maybe me isn’t so bad.
........, did Huizar mention that he went to Princeton in that long-wind rant?

Time for Mayor Garcetti to get Explicit regarding "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo's" latest Threats

As IBEW/DWP Strongman Brian "D'Arcy Rizzo" demands his next installment of $4 Million Dollars for the supposed Joint Job Training & Safety Non-Profits, we use some expressive verbiage in pondering whether Mayor Eric Garcetti will show "political elan, fortitude, cojones" in standing up against "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo's" thinly-veiled threats?
As "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo" litigates to delay compiling with audits of the Joint DWP/IBEW Joint Job Training and Safety Non-Profits, his latest act of audacity gains support from LA County Labor Federation Leader Maria Elena Durazo.
Maybe Mayor Garcetti's choreographed "F-bomb Moment" would have found better acceptance if use in response to "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo's" latest threat?
With respects to our Square Peg Rhodes Scholar, turned First Term Mayor Eric Garcetti, this is not the time to lighten up ......., and were not referring to your choice of vulgarity with empty beer in hand.
To the point Mr. Mayor, you, along with the DWP Commission, City Attorney Mike Feuer and City Controller Ron Gelperin, have been called out by the reigning Bully of City Hall, IBEW/DWP Strongman Brian "D'Arcy Rizzo".
"D'Arcy Rizzo" wants some more lunch money, $4 Million Dollars made payable to the Joint DWP/IBEW Job Training and Safety Non-Profits, and he wants it NOW! And if his latest demand is not met ........, the reigning City Hall Bully is making insinuations (ie. a direct threat) of a long, hot and dry Summer ahead, literally.
But rest assure Mr. Mayor, most bullies, especially the political variety, have deep-seeded insecurity issues and in the case of "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo", the mere thought of having to reveal the secretive expenditures of the Joint Non-Profits, via audits, is the basis for his latest mass gathering of the flock to denounce you.
The fact that "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo" called upon LA County Labor Federation's Leader Maria Elena Durazo to stand with him, in calling upon you to stand by a deal crafted back in your City Clowncil Central Committee Era, is evidence of the need to stay the course on auditing on how the $40 Million Dollars allocated to what was designed as a IBEW Bailout (and contribute back to allies) Fund, were spent (** after all, if the LA County Coroner had done an autopsy on Durazo's late husband Miguel Contreras, we may know how he really went on to the "Great Brother and Sister Collective in the Red Sky", but I digress).
Further, as DWP Watch Dog Jack Humphreville highlights in his most recent City Watch Missive, the search for the past $40 Million in allocations, is entering sensitive line items of dubious expenditures as he notes ........
While the stated purpose of these two Institutes was to fund IBEW Local 18’s efforts to improve the safety and training of workers of our Department of Water and Power, the real purpose was to absorb IBEW salaries and overhead as its revenue from membership dues was hit as a result of the downsizing of the Department’s work force in 2000.  This diversion of Ratepayer money allowed Union Bo$$ d’Arcy to continue to pour money into his political slush fund through which he was able to buy considerable influence with Mayor Villaraigosa and the City Council.
That noted, its no surprise Mr. Mayor that only the reigning voice of fiscal sanity on the current City Clowncil Central Committee, CD 8 City Councilman Bernard Parks, was willing to go on the record in suggesting withholding any further payments to the Joint Non-Profits, while the likes of your CD 14 Political Nemesis (and former DWP Oversight Committee Chairperson) Jose Huizar remain silent.
Thus, Mr. Mayor, now is not the time to blink in your stand off with Boss D'Arcy Rizzo, better yet, you may want to channel former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright who uttered the following one-liner after the Communist Cuban Regime shot down two civilian aircraft in 1996, in calling out the Bully's audit non-compliance, ......
"This is not cojones. This is cowardice."[
.....and when a Political Bully at City Hall is seeking to extort more public money by making threats against rate and tax paying Angelinos, then its time for a supposed reform-minded Mayor to man up and use all remedies (audits, lawsuits, investigations) to stand down "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo ......, and if you need to get profanely explicit  in doing so, don't do it with an empty beer in your hand.

"The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch", Tuesday Update

"The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch", gets a shot of voter adrenalin from LA County ballots to take a 1,793 vote lead over Betty Yee, to hold the second and final spot in the November Runoff.
A First Cousin Political Duo all smiles (for today).
First Cousin John for Controller, are you still with us? Yes for now.
Los Angeles County gives First Cousin John a big Campaign EKG Jump.

From left to right, First Cousin John, Betty Yee and Ashley Swearengin.
Its 3P.M. on Tuesday and as Ashley Swearengin awaits her challenger for the November Runoff, First Cousin John is benefiting this afternoon from a voter shock of adrenalin from LA and Santa Barbara County ballots to increase his lead to 1,793 votes over Betty Yee
Ashley Swearengin, 980,386 votes.
First Cousin John, 858,957 votes.
Betty Yee, 857,165 votes.
David Evans, 829,872 votes.
But as the facial expression of First Cousin John's designated choice to replace him in the Assembly, Canoga Park's Miguel Santiago denotes below, the end game tally of the votes can still spell doom for his boss. Consider these No Cal Counties with outstanding ballots, compare to LA County's 30,200 votes. All other So Cal Counties (with the exception of Ventura and Santa Barbara, 4,000 votes) have completed their counts.
No Cal Counties.
Sonoma, 28,105 votes.
Contra Costa, 14,000 votes.
San Joaquin, 21,940 votes.
Sacramento, 3,200 votes.
San Mateo, 2,129 votes.
Placer, 8,499 votes.
Monterey, 8,160 votes.
Santa Cruz, 7,271 votes.
Mendocino, 6,918 votes.
Marin, 6,200 votes
Humboldt, 6,021 votes.
Lake, 6,053 votes.
Thus, while First Cousin John may hold second for the moment, the uncounted ballots noted above show a not too promising end result.

Morning Brief on a Profane Los Angeles Politico in search of a Defining Persona for Tuesday

As the initial Social Media-driven buzz response to Mayor Eric Garcetti's choreographed "F-bomb pronouncement", at yesterday's LA Kings Stanley Cup Celebration, gives way to Old School Political Analysis, did the Rhodes Scholar's momentary slip into the "F-ing Gutter", merely reinforce a perception that the first year Mayor is a "Square Peg Politico" seeking a "Defining Political Persona"?
Will a momentary use of gutter verbiage change a Political Persona in search of definition?
The morning choreographing of a F-bomb pronouncement?
In today's politics, its all about the clickety clicks of attention ......., and regarding a Square Peg Political Persona defining a new edge? Well ...........
Memo to first year Mayor Eric Garcetti, if there was one thing you should of learned from the eight year reign of former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar, it should of been that choreographing a political persona that runs contrary to the reality of self, can have dire future, political mobility consequences.
You would think that a Rhodes Scholar would have the discerning, comprehension capabilities to not repeat the choreographed pratfalls of fronting a false persona for political gain. But surprise, (or not), your F-bomb utterance yesterday, has made an "ahhhhhuttering ex mayor" look dignified in comparison.
As someone who has had fleeting encounters of substance with you in person, let me utter that many us who voted to replace a Failure Mayor with your Square Peg Self, were making their choice based upon installing a candidate that had the mental, independent aptitude to reform a dysfunction City Hall with subtenant solutions (or merely didn't want to vote for the "Villar/D'Arcy Rizzo Call Greuel of Choice").
Last I check, dropping the F-bomb has not changed the following;
** That IBEW/DWP Strongman Brian "D'Arcy Rizzo" has not supplied requested fiscal documents pertaining to auditing $40 Million Dollars of expenditures for two joint DWP/IBEW Job and Safety Training Non-Profits.
** That Team Garcetti has not found a candidate to challenge political nemesis CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar in 2015 (which may have or will provoke a F-bomb tirade from yourself and CD 14 constituents, but I digress).
** The fact that no subtenant Pension Reform have been initiated to reign in future fiscal obligations against the General Fund.
** ......, and that any future attempts to grow revenue at the Ballot Box, will meet with defeat because F-bombs do not reinforce the trust that our political leadership, have the integrity to properly manage city affairs.
The reality is that 24 hours after yesterday's profane shot of redefining self, the buzz of the moment has worn away to reveal the reality that a momentary, choreographed exercise in image crafting, has only reinforce the fact an "inner battle" to redefine a political persona, is in progress ....., and for what reasons? Rest assure Mr. Mayor, its not to promote Herbalife after leaving the Third Floor.
But lets not get carry away in a profane moment and forget the reality that substance is paramount over symbolism in seeking a better political tomorrow. Thus Mayor Garcetti, it would be wise not to lose touch with your inner intellect, Square Peg Persona and move onwards in crafting policy initiatives that may cast you come 2017, as a "F-ing Brilliant Choice" for higher office.

Mayor Garcetti drops the F-bomb at Kings Victory Party

Papa Gil Garcetti, get the soap ready for your sailor mouth son!!
Less than one year into office, Mayor Eric Garcetti has gone where even former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar would dare not tread. Blame it on his secondary career as a Navy Reservist or maybe he was having a mayoral campaign flashback involving IBEW/DWP Strongman Brian D'arcy, but the mild-manner Rhodes Scholar, turned first term Mayor, exhibited some choice vocabulary this afternoon at the Staples Center LA Kings Stanley Cup Celebration ........, and BTW, regarding the proceeding comment about getting caught with a drink in your hand? At lease you can always blame the Former Failure Mayor for below.
Lets remember that a Mayor should be a Role Model for the youth of LA.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

As Mayor Eric Garcetti "hashtag shills" for Los Angeles to become the Museum Home for Star Wars George Lucas Art Collection, we like to remind the former Charter Member of the Autry's "Southwest Society" of some unfinished business on Mt. Washington involving the still shuttered Southwest Museum.
While we can agree that LA would make a great home for George Lucas Art Collection .......
......, can we also #bringitback in seeking to reopen Los Angeles First Museum with its complete collection on display?
As Mayor Eric Garcetti nears his first year anniversary in office, its no understatement to state that the Rhodes Scholar Politico has embraced "Hashtag Messaging".
In the age of Twitter, the tech-savvy Mayor Garcetti can tweet pronouncements on policy issues in the fraction of the time (and staff cost) of a former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar Photo Op.  Yet, both diverse styles do mostly share the same end product, symbolism over substance.
While we would like to join Mayor Garcetti in helping to grow LA's museum choices (just think how many DWP/IBEW employees would pay to view to original mold of "Jabba the D'Arcy", but I digress), we call upon Mayor Garcetti to make a cultural priority, the reopening of the Southwest Museum.
Mayor Garcetti knows all too well how being associated with an Act of Symbolism (the defunct Southwest Society), has resulted with most of LA's First Museum Collection, still sitting in a Burbank Warehouse.
In recent months, the Friends of the Southwest Museum have unveiled an exciting, ambitious plan that features a restored, reopen museum, with surrounding investment in the heritage of the Arroyo Seco.
Thus, now is the time to move beyond hashtag symbolism and come together in supporting a plan of substance to help bring back to life LA's First Museum.
** As "#SaveourStreetsLA" gets placed on cyber hold, Jack Humphreville has some thoughts how the duo of City Clowncil Central Committee Members Mitch Englander and Joe Buscaino, can sell a cynical electorate on a rise in the Sale Tax. To convince the voters to pay for the repair of the streets for a second time, the City Council will need to place a charter amendment on the ballot that mandates that the City to Live Within Its Means.  This will require the City to develop and adhere to a Five Year Financial Plan, pass two year balanced budgets, and over the next twenty years, fully fund the City’s two underwater pension plans and repair our streets and the rest of our deteriorating infrastructure.
** Ron Kaye reconnects with keyboard to broach on why California is losing the race in prosecuting corrupt politicos. Part of the answer may have to do with California's prominence among states, with the ruling political party's ability to influence appointments of US Attorneys.
** CD 1 City Clowncilman Gil Cedillo is bring about unity on the Eastside of the LA River ......, by growing discontent among his supposed supporters. Many are openly frustrated at Clowncilman Cedillo and staff for broken pledges, which are quickly growing into big problems for Gil.

Father Day Notes on the Neighborhood Council Scorecard

As the dialog among Neighborhood Council Activists continues in regards to the proposed Board of Neighborhood Commissioner's (BONC) revamp of Behavioral Protocols/Standards for Neighborhood Councils, no review, commentary and implementation of new NC governing rules, should not move forward without a revisiting of the unjust removal of Michael McCue from the Studio City NC.
Former Studio City NC Member and CD 2 City Council Candidate Michael McCue.
Its time for a flashback/teachable moment regarding the "Dangerous Enemy(ies) of Freedom (of expression)" on Neighborhood Councils.
On April 21, 2010, Green Party Activist, former CD 2 City Council Candidate and then Studio City NC Member Michael McCue was voted off the Studio City NC by his fellow board members, why? As "Village to Village" Blogger and former Valley Village NC Member Paul Hatfield noted at the time .......
There was a general consensus among both Michael McCue’s supporters and detractors regarding his public persona and interactions –  annoying, grating, verbose
However, the real question before the SCNC Board was not whether Michael was a “pain in the ass,” as one Board Member claimed, but did Michael cross the line on several occasions and violate its code of conduct?

For eight of his fellow board members (with four abstentions) that was reason enough to dismiss the contrary opinion of the majority present (highlighted by the disdain exhibited then by now SCNC Vice-President Lisa "Dangerous Enemy of Freedom" Sarkin as noted by Blogger Phil Jennerjahn) and become the "Poster NC of Intolerance" by riding themselves of McCue ......, until re elected on May 29.

Observers on both sides at the time, could agree that DONE was impotent in providing an objective protocol or mechanism to ensure a fair resolution of grievances at hand as noted by "Lydia"....,

There were better ways to have handled the problems. My personal
opinion is that the voters should decide, not fellow Board Members.
Since the election was only a few weeks away, I consider the behavior of the Board, very inappropriate. I would like to say that the responsiblity, does lie with D.O.N.E. for their lack of interest in really listening to the Neighborhood Councils and addressing the issues.
What has D.O.N.E. done?

Four years later, BONC can use the wealth of commentary from both sides of the McCue Controversy and review the video tape proceeding, in the hope that common sense solutions (beginning with training NC Presidents to be objective meeting facilitators as noted by Bob Gelfand), will foster decorum when diverse fallible and mortal human beings meet under one roof.

A Healing Gathering of "Blue Heaven on Earth" comes to Ramona Gardens

As tensions ease within the Ramona Gardens Community from the recent Fire-bombing Attacks targeting African-American Families, a healing dose of "Blue Heaven on Earth" makes a community visit.
Israel Ortiz (and infant son) with LA Dodgers First Baseman Adrian Gonzalez.
**Blogger's Note: Please pardon this Blogger on a Father's Day morning for sharing a moment of RG community pride. In the weeks following the race-targeting Fire-bombings of African-American Families within the Ramona Gardens Housing Development, a peaceful calm has return to the neighborhood, thanks in part to the joint efforts from the likes of the Housing Authority of the City Los Angeles (HACLA), the LAPD's Community Safety Policing (CSP) Officers assigned to Ramona Gardens, and the RG Resident Advisory Council among others. The cause of Community Healing and Unity was further served by a visit by players from "Blue Heaven on Earth", the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. The likes of Clayton Kershaw, Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Either and Manager Don Mattingly spent some quality time among community members as photos via RG RAC President Maggie Ortiz clearly show. President Ortiz, HACLA, LA City Recreation & Park, the LAPD CSP Officers, Doritos, the Dream Center and the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization, should be commended for their efforts in coordinating this healing event----Scott Johnson

"The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch", Late Friday Update

First Cousin John finds a Political Shock of Support among the mostly Southern California tally of votes to take a Second Place lead by 342 votes over Betty Yee.
A moment of positive unity for "First Cousin John" as he moves into Second Place (for now).
First Cousin John for Controller, are you still with us?
An influx of uncounted Southern California votes sends a shock of political life into the hopes of First Cousin John of making the November Runoff.
Its 5:40 P.M. as the Los Angeles Kings take an early 1-0 lead against the New York Rangers, "The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign" is looking for its political version of the "Miracle on Manchester" among uncounted Southern California votes ......, and after today's tally, there is a small hope. For this weekend, First Cousin John is in Second Place by a mere 324 ballots. As of now the tally of votes is ......,
Ashley Swearengin, 979,119 votes
First Cousin John, 852,243 votes
Betty Yee, 851,921 votes
David Evans, 826,404 votes
The big concern now for "The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign is that most, if not all Southern California outstanding votes (especially LA County) have been counted, leaving mostly No Cal Counties (and Betty Yee supporting), to be tabulated.
Despite today's brief shock of political life for First Cousin John, his Canoga Park staffer and supported replacement candidate in the Assembly, Miguel Santiago (and his carpetbag-hauling Special Interest Burro) cannot smile, knowing that his boss may politically, flat-line again next week.

TGIF Brief on the Free Speech-inhibiting Los Angeles Political Machine

The fiscal cost of the City of Los Angeles restriction of Free Speech at public meetings, continues to rise as Venice African-American Boardwalk Vendor Michael Hunt is awarded $215,000 for his ejection from a Recreation & Parks Commission Meeting, which he spoke while wearing KKK garb.
The likes of Michael Hunt (in KKK Garb) and David "Zuma Dogg" Saltzberg exposed the limitation on Free Speech by the City Clowncil Central Committee.
Michael Hunt in KKK garb, speaks before the City Clowncil Central Committee during Public Comment.
When an Act of Outrage exposes a limitation on Free Speech, the taxpayers are bound to pay, again.
The Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee has decided to cut their legal loses by voting to pay Venice African-American Boardwalk Vendor Michael Hunt $215,000 for violating his First Amendment Rights in ejecting him for speaking in KKK garb at a Recreation & Parks Commission Meeting.
Many can easily find outrage in Michael Hunt's Act of Speech, especially when garbed in Klan wear. Yet, Hunt, along with fellow Venice Boardwalk Merchants Matt Dowd and David "Zuma Dogg" Saltzberg rightfully brought their grievances to City Hall and via their masterful use of Public Comment time, exposed the City Clowncil Central Committee reactive proclivities that have cost the taxpayers close to $1 Million Dollars in legal fees.
Instead of the City Clowncil Central Committee embracing Speech, the City Clowncil Central Committee Strongman Herman "Mini Amin" Wesson led body has enacted protocols that discourage Public Comment via cutting back on time, agenda placement, and the shutdown of off site locations among others.
In reality, while many will focus on the Act of Outrage by Hunt, the recent actions of the City Clowncil Central Committee and the repugnant (and legally costly) behavior by the likes of CD 14 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Jose Huizar, are more egregious. Thus, if outing the nefarious actions of the City Clowncil Central Committee as a whole, or the questionable act of character of the likes of Clowncilman Huizar, requires an Act of Outrage, then onwards with your First Amendment-protected exercise in expression.

"The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch", Thursday Evening Update

In our latest "The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch " Update, we regret to report that First Cousin John's "Political Flat-lining Episodes" are becoming more acute, as the amount of voters available to shock start his chances of making the November Runoff runs low.
The fact that First Cousin John chose to ride with the Special Interests, instead of walking among his constituents, is having implications for his future political health, as noted below.
First Cousin John for Controller, are you still with us?
As of 6:15 P.M. on Thursday evening, the "Political Flat-lining Episodes" from "The Tony Villar's First Cousin John (Perez) for Controller Campaign EKG Watch" are becoming more pronounce as the remain stockpile of votes available to shock First Cousin John into the November Runoff are running LOW. The tally of the votes this evening do not bid well for the former Assembly Speaker ........
Betty Yee, 832,232 votes
First Cousin John, 828,669 votes
David Evans, 803,666 votes
Simply, for First Cousin John to politically survive and make the November Runoff, he must find support among the mostly remaining Northern California ballots, which have mostly been trending towards No Cal Democrat Betty Yee. Maybe that is why the likes of his designated Assembly District Replacement (and LACCD Board of Trustees Member via Canoga Park), is looking grim (along with his carpetbag-laden burro).
First Cousin John Staffer and Assembly Candidate Miguel Santiago.
Its not too early to note the possible ramifications of First Cousin John's Dire Political Health on the carpetbag endeavor of his Canoga Park Staffer to replace him in Sacramento.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Thursday

A day after Mayor Eric Garcetti pans a proposed $3 Billion Dollars Sale Tax Hike, members of the City Clowncil Central Committee request an ordinance that calls for raising the Minimum Wage for select Hotel Workers to $15 Dollars plus a hour, which may stimulate inflation and have dire budgetary ramifications on the City of Los Angeles General Fund.
Los Angeles County Labor Federation Leader Maria Elena Durazo, exerts her influence on a labor-friendly City Council Central Committee to raise the Minimum Wage (and stimulate future dues payments, turned campaign contributions).
Replicating the same fail progressive policies as a certain Midwest City, could someday make Los Angeles, "Detroit on the Pacific".
Another challenge of leadership is looming for Mayor Eric Garcetti.
A day after Mayor Garcetti announced that the time was not right for placing a proposed $3 Billion Dollars plus Sale Tax Hike on the November Ballot, three members of the City Clowncil Economic Development Committee (please excuse pause for oxymoronic reflection) are recommending a Minimum Wage increase for non-union hotel workers (soon to become due-exploited brothers and sisters), to $15.37 per hour.
The implications of this proposed economic intervention by the labor-friendly Clowncil Central Committee, will have profound impacts on a General Fund that continues to provide less (in services) as future worker obligations increase.
Raising the Minimum Wage and its impact on the local Consumer Price Index (its a sure bet that the cost of raising wages will be past on to the customer), will influence future labor discussions and put pressure on Mayor Garcetti to back down from his stance of no pay raises over the next three years.
Surely, the Coalition of City Unions will exploit the fact that some municipal employees will be making less than the pending Clowncil Central Committee approved Minimum Wage. Thus, setting the stage (and wage benchmark) for the next round of contentious salary negotiations.
** In a move that is sure to draw the ire of "UTILA" (United Teaching Indoctrinators of Los Angeles), LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy, is calling upon State Officials to join him in drafting new Teacher Tenure Laws in the wake of the Superior Court's Vergara Ruling.
** From the "Bloggin Comandante" at the  "Weakly of Record", comes this missive regarding a proposal to cap Parking Tickets in the City of Los Angeles at $23 a pop (please pause as I laugh).
From the Weakly ........., The Parking Freedom people say the $23 limit is based on "the Bureau of Labor Statistics median hourly wage," which is better than basing the cost on how much money you rob can people for, the current metric. ......., which would be a non-starter with the City Clowncil Central Committee's propose hike in the Minmum Wage pending.
** LA Wave Newspaper Soulvine Column Betty Pleasant is never one to shy away from stating an opinion (mostly in the form a "Wanton Missive of Distortion" WMD). But the results of the 62nd Assembly District Contest has Betty contemplating something drastic .......,(I’m not ready to deal with the 62nd Assembly District yet, as I am seriously inclined to break my own rule and support an avowed Republican (as opposed to an alleged Democrat) in that race.
